I had the great pleasure of hosting Photowalks with Stephanie from New York, USA during her stay in Santorini...in three days we perused the black beach of Perissa with a visit to Tranquillo beach bar, walked up the Mesa Vouno mountain to the little white chapel in the rock, attended the Good Friday Easter candlelight procession in Pyrgos, attended the Easter Saturday service at the main church in Emporeio, followed by a walk through the labyrinth of tiny alleys in the castle of Emporeio, invited into one of the homes by a resident in the castle, had afternoon tea at a barbershop turned cafe in the square, toured the red beach of Akrotiri with lunch at the Dolphin Taverna, Akrotiri with quayside views...one venue we didn't have time for was a visit to Santo Wines in Pyrgos...a must for any visitor to the island, with a fantastic 180 degree view from Oia to Akrotiri right in front of your very eyes...

It's most unusual to find a church open, so imagine my surprise when I gingerly opened the door to Zoodochos Pigi church in the rocks of Mesa Vouno mountain to find it unlocked! I saw the cutest, littlest, altar you ever did see... (at Santorini, Greece)

I honestly feel I've walked 500 miles today to reach the ruins of Ancient Thira on the top of the Mesa Vouno mountain range. The views are spectacular - on one side of the mountain is the view of Kamari, where I began, and on the other, Perissa...check out the hairpin road to the top, reminds me of the street in San Francisco... The architecture on Santorini island never fails to astound me...I found this property on the way to the medieval castle in the old village of Emporeio and love the contrast of the unfinished wall in the foreground...haha (at Emporeio)

Whichever direction you look in, you're never disappointed with the views on this island... (at Kamari Black Sand Beach, Santorini)
