Hi! I just remembered your art piece "Hunger Obsession Anger" while talking to a friend and I was wondering if you could explain what it means (to you). I find it very intriguing but I can't fully wrap my head around it and would love to understand it :)
Hi im. So sorry to disappoint you but I don't remember the original intent behind it anymore. I was 18 when I made that. Ya know what that age does to you. But ☝️ I can try to interpret it, now at 22.
Info for the rest of you: this was first posted on my old account, @wormbus-art, in 2022. I went by Severín back then.
There are several things that coexist in the piece, i think.
If you obsess over your hunger for too long, you will forget all about real sustenance, the anger you feel will keep you satisfied. (This, however, will only get you so far. The starvation is still there. The anger is just a plaster, it doesn't fix the hunger).
Hunger and Anger are very similar. They're both based on desperation, i feel. Hunger is just desperation for staying alive. Anger is what you call it when you are desperate to change things by any and all means. Obsession is a symptom of being desperate. Obsession also deepens desperation. It doesn't fulfill any need, though.
The bottom right diagram (the venn one) isn't necessarily complete. There can be more circles. What they represent is up to you, I am too deep in thought right now to imagine a third variant of obsession.
The top left diagram is more about rumination than obsession, i suppose. You can imagine that its a spiral, if you would look at it from the side. Hunger turns into anger, anger leaves you hungry for more, then you are angry because you are never satisfied. You want more. More of what? (My own answer would be justice, fairness and kindness.)
That's what I can think of now. Take this with a grain of salt, or rather a drop of sweat, as I'm straining my brain in a bus in 40°C heat with no AC. At least I'm sitting.
Also, thank you for the lovely ask!!! Despite the heat, it was very fun to analyze this. I think I did a good job. Feel free to disagree with me, though!! I didn't make this piece with the intent of people understanding my vision. I made it so people can understand their own visions. (At least that's what I think I thought at the time.)
