“Hey, so uhm I know it’s probably a little late but tomorrow is Valentine’s Day and I’m gonna be performing at the this event so you know, if you can please drop by? It’d mean a lot to me.” He paused for a moment before adding, “you can bring your date too, I promise I’ll even sing you two a song for your troubles.”

“You either want the tattoo or you don’t, choice is yours. I’m just here to provide a service, so make up your mind or find another artist whose got more time to waste, there’s a shitload of them in this city.” Jake reminded in his usual blunt manner, uninterested in presenting the polite facade that one would expect was associated in the field of customer service. He was paid for his level of talent, not his level of tolerance. “So what’ll it be?”

Andrew was hesitant as he nervously looked around the room; it wasn’t even about the needles or the pain. It was more the fact that he doesn’t know if he’s  ready to commit to something so permanent and if he did, then what would it be? Jake’s no nonsense question startled him. “I’m sorry!” The man rushed out of the tattoo place and was almost a block away when he stopped. Contemplating his decision for around ten minutes, he let out a sigh and turned around to march back into the salon where he slammed the door open. He was done running away from things and perhaps this would be good for him. “Can you do a back tattoo? I think I have an idea what I want.”

“Hey, I’m not trying to be a dick or anything, but do you think you could move maybe four inches to the right? You’re kind of in the way of my shot here.” Sean spoke up from behind his camera, unwilling to move himself in fear that he’d lose the perfect angle that he had somehow miraculously set up. “Just for a minute, then you can move right back. Unless you want to be in a few of the pictures, I suppose.”

Andrew was lost in his world once more, listening to a Murder Mystery Podcast while he was waiting for his bus. He hadn’t noticed the man speaking until he felt a nudge on his shoulder. Startled, he took off one of his earbuds, “Oh right uhm... Sorry about that,” he said, granting the man’s request while he scooted to the other end of the shed, leaning against the post and putting his buds in again. Suddenly conscious of the man taking photos of himself, he never the less continued to listen to the episode. It was about a minute or so later when a rather funny joke was made by the co-host that prompted the young man to burst into a fit of giggles. It was only afterwards that he realised he was still looking at the only other guy in the shed when he did so. “Sorry, that wasn’t about you, it’s this podcast I’m listening too.”
