Finding religion at seventeen Ari became a devoted follower of Cyeris, his unorthodox past providing him with a voice and experience that most others lacked. He knew that to follow someone claiming to be the mouthpiece for a higher power was to be an advocate for ignorance - he believed in his god, but he had questions that no apostle could answer.

Ridiculed for the answers he sought, Ari stated that he would return one day to hang up his religious attire, either a man stripped of his faith or a man who had looked upon god.

Hello! My name is Jay and I don’t have any preferred pronouns, so feel free to use whatever you feel is appropriate.

I’m a new-ish writeblr who created a new account to sort out my tumblr and to create a coherent theme and name across several different platforms. I used to be @androgynousace and I will soon be deleting that account and all associated blogs when I’ve retrieved all my original posts.

Anyway, about me;

I’m an 18-year-old university student who lives in England and I love to read and write, I’ve joined this platform as a means to meet other writers and share my own original stories and fanfictions with everyone and anyone who’s interested.

I have two current WiPs,

These Things We Deserve; an urban fantasy novel that follows the lives of two witches and their progression through university. Spencer is an extroverted witch whose heart of gold extends even to the dead as he studies the unusual art of necromancy, whereas Ellis is a reserved student who ensures their shared flat is always decorated with flowers and chose to study herbology with druidism as a means to connect with his disabled little sister. Together, they come to learn that sometimes family is just your roommate, your eccentric lecturer, and your undead cat. And that’s okay.

The Faceless Ones; a dark fantasy novel that explores the truth behind the creatures that plague the nightmares of the young and inhabit the tales and warnings of the old; the Faceless Ones. This adventure follows an idealistic thief in search of their lost older brother, a sheltered priest in training who aims to solidify his faith by meeting his deity, a keen scholar aiming for a place in the history books, and one of the fabled creatures themselves; a Faceless One in search of their stolen memories and the god who abandoned them. An unlikely group, but alliances, however reluctant, are far better than roaming these lands alone.

Ellis Carter ; Druid

A creative mind is a curse and a blessing, especially when it can lead to hours spent lost in thought, as is often the case of Ellis who can lose track of time when painting or doodling in the corners of his textbooks. If persuaded to let go of his sketchbook, one can see that he cares for only two things in his life: his sister and the flowers he cares for.

Spencer Andrews ; Necromancer

With a heart of gold and a smile that could make the sun shine just a little brighter in competition, Spencer knew no enemies and went out of his way to acquaint himself with everyone he met. It was of little surprise to anyone that his infamous kindness extended to even the dead, spending many nights in the company of some forgotten spirit without a name.

Is there a specific time during which people are supposed to pray? Does it matter at all?

Are there any religious holidays? What is celebrated?

Does anything religiously involved occur during or soon after birth?

Do people believe in an afterlife?

Is there anything like a heaven/purgatory/hell system? What is yours like?

If so, how can someone guarantee themselves a spot in any one place?

Is there anything promised in each part?

Who are the most well-known figures of your religion? Why are they so well-known?

Is there a special book or anything like it that people following the religion go by? (like the Quran, the Bible, the Torah, etc.)

What does it state?

How closely is it followed, and why?

Is there a hierarchy of sorts in religion?

Who holds the highest position, and how did they get there?

What are the following ranks, and what comes with each of them? Special responsibilities/abilities, etc?

What is the lowest position? Is there anything lower than a regular follower of the religion? How did they get there?

Do expectations change at all with age?

Are children brought into the religion at a young age, or are they given a choice?

If they are brought in very early, is there ever a period where they are given the opportunity to leave?

Do the deities, if any, view children and adults differently? Is it about age in any respect?

How does this religion treat people who aren’t followers?

What is the general opinion on trying to convert “non-believers” to their religion?

How are the general interactions?

How much does religion affect the relationships a person might have?

How does this religion, as a whole, view and treat people of different varieties?

- The fic starts out great, nice style, language, captivating summary. It’s unfinished and has been abandoned since 2013.

- The fic is complete, nice style, language, tons of kudos speak for themselves. It’s about your NOTP.

- The fic is about your OTP,  it’s complete, it’s kinky as hell. The plot is absolutely dumbass.

- The plot sounds great, it’s about your OTP, it’s complete. The characters are horribly OOC.

 - Everything is perfect in this fic, starting from the first letter and ending with the last full stop. It’s exactly 800 words long.

- The fic’s word count is a six-figure number, it’s about your OTP, characters are compliant with your head-canon. It’s dull and boring as seven hells.

- The beginning is enthralling, everything’s great, the plot, the style, it’s long and it’s even about your OTP. It features something that makes you close the tab as soon as you open it, like father/daughter incest or mpreg or some other squicky thing. 

It is not a job.  It is not school.  It is not a contract.   Participation in fandom is voluntary and it is not binding (commissions and paid work aside).

Yes, within fandom you should be bound by some sense of ethics or general decency: don’t steal art and fic, don’t willfully deceive people, don’t be a jerk or a garbage human, and so on and so forth.  But everything else?  The writing fic and the doing and the participation?  It is voluntary.

So if you are writing a fic and you’re seven chapters in and you have eight chapters to go and you’re just tired and you don’t want to do it any more?  You can stop.  If you’ve been running a blog and writing about every single episode of every new anime show that’s come out and you can’t for three weeks?  Don’t.  If you told your 5 billion followers you were gonna post a piece of fanart and you’re just sick of it and you don’t want to do it any more?  Give it up.

Sure, people will be disappointed and upset and some will complain.  But life is disappointing and upsetting sometimes, and it goes on, and no one can sue you for not finishing a fic that they were enjoying the hell out of for free.  No one can accuse you of not living up to the terms of your contract when you don’t post that fanart you mentioned three weeks ago.  Because fandom is voluntary.  It’s something that you participate in because it’s fun or fulfilling or important to you, and when it stops being those things, you should stop, too.

You are not bound by the asks in your inbox.  You are not bound by comments on a fic or a piece of art.  You are not bound, in fandom, by other people’s disappointments or their expectations.
