“You know, you say that, but if she’s anything like either of us, she’s going to be bad. There’s just no getting over the fact that she’s going to be a handful.” While she might not be as bad as he was, Ever had a habit of tying her bears up in one of her chairs, questioning them about where they hid the bomb. While it was the cutest thing she’s ever seen, she knew this was only the beginning. “Well–because you’re far to attractive for your own good. That’s clearly a great place to start.” Adelaide smiled as she gave the man a playful wink. “I think I finally perfected my vegan recipe, so I would love your input.”

“I never thought for a moment that she wasn’t going to be a handful, but I know that she’s not going to be violent.” He smiled as he spoke that with nothing but absolute honesty. He knew the two of them raised their daughter better than that, and for the most part, she was very respectful, she just seemed to have a problem of knowing how much was too much when it came to playing with her father. “Well then I guess that means you’re going to be the death of me too because we both know that you’re incredibly attractive.” And again, he was completely honest. He thought that she was the most attractive woman he’d ever met in his entire life. “Yeah? i’d love to try it baby.”

“I’m already worried that she might try and make her own little batarangs to throw at people. Or you know–try to be her best Batgirl.” It was entertaining just how much she was like her dad. Not only did she look exactly like him, but she was starting to pick up on all his little quirks. “If you’re not going to be the death of me, she sure as heck will.” Bending down to pick up Ever’s blanket and pillow from the little bed she made when she was watching tv with her unicorn. “Would you want to help me? We haven’t baked together in a long time.”

“She’s not going to be that bad, Addie, you gotta give us a little more credit than that. We’re going to be Batman and Batgirl in a very safe manner I promise you that.” He laughed. He loved the fact that he and his daughter scared an equal amount of love for the comic book character. “How am I going to be the death of you?” He questioned at he looked around the room. Walking over to the corner he dropped the toys into the box. “Yeah, of course I want to help, I think it would be great for both of us to be in the kitchen together again.”

“She may not of hurt you, but we still don’t want her going around, sticking her fingers into people eyes.” Addie corrected as she watched the small girl run up the stairs and into the bathroom. “So what would you like to do tonight, babe? I was thinking about making some cupcakes, but I didn’t want to do that if you had ideas for us.”

“You have a point I won’t deny that. I don’t want to end up with a call form the future daycare that she poked someone’s eye out.” He laughed as he walked around the living room, cleaning up their daughters toys as he went. “If that’s what you want to do I can join you, I didn’t really plan anything for us.”

Offering the taller man a laugh as she watched their little girl poke her fingers into her dad’s eyes, Adelaide scolded Ever. “Now what did I tell you about touching peoples eyes? You could really hurt them, Ev.” Pressing a kiss to her cheek, Adelaide watched as the two played together. Not once did she think her life would turn out like this, but she was happy that they had seemed to keep what had happened between them separate from their daughter. “She needs to start getting ready for bed. Why don’t you put her down so she can run upstairs and go brush her teeth?”

He tried to keep the young girl from falling, his hands never leaving her body. Even though they weren’t married, he was sure he hand the most perfect family. “She’s fine, Addie, she didn’t hurt me.” He laughed as he moved to grab Ev and carefully put her on her feet. “You heard your mom, go.” He spoke as he hurried her along, watching her run up the stairs. “I’ll come tuck you in when you’re done.” He called after he before he turned to face Addie. “She’s going to be the death of me I swear.”

Adelaide loved being a mother. She loved spending time with her daughter, and she loved how the young girl could bring a smile to nearly anyone’s face with just a simple giggle. She had a laugh that was contagious, and she was sure she got that from her father. As Ever climbed up her slender body, Addie laughed as she lugged her daughter over her shoulder with a laugh. “Why don’t you go give daddy a hard time now? I’m sure he’d make a lovely tree.” Adelaide laughed as she handed over their daughter as Andy took the small girl into his arms. “I mean you might as well be with how tall you are.” she teased lightheartedly.

Andy love watching Addie with their daughter. With the way the two of them laughed together, it was a sight that could warm any heart. To say he felt lucky in this moment was such an understatement. He took the young girl in his arms when she was handed to him, a small laugh passing his lips as the girl started to climb all over him. “Now she’s going to treat me like I’m an actual tree.” He spoke beneath his laugh as his gaze met Adelaide’s. “I would rather watch you let her claw your eyes out.” He added as he lifted his hand to pull the girls hands from his eyes.

Well let’s not let it get to that point. Come on, baby, let’s go.

Alright then, let’s go baby.

God I love you. Alright, let’s get out there before it get’s to late and I start getting tired.

I love you too. If you’re too tired, I don’t mind taking a rain check as long as I get to cuddle you tonight.

I had a feeling you’d say that. Maybe if you play your cards right, and I feel comfortable enough, maybe we can make that happen? 

Oh I plan on playing a really good hand of cards tonight if it means I can possibly get you in my bed again after all these years.

Well now you’re just making me blush. You might get me fully naked at some point since I would have to wear my bra and underwear in there since I don’t have my swimsuit here. Maybe it’s time I start bringing some clothes to just keep here? So I have anything I need. 

I’m okay with getting you naked. I wouldn’t deny that I want to see you like that again, hell, I want to experience that with you again. I wouldn’t mind you bringing a few things over each time you come over.

Well–Ev is in bed..why don’t we go sit on the couch, watch tv and cuddle? Or maybe go for a swim? Or get in the hot tub together? I just want to ease your mind and spend time with you.

I wouldn’t mind taking a moment or two to be in the hot tub with you. It’s been a very long time since we’ve done that together. and you know, I get you half naked at the same time so why not.

Then I’m really going to have to have you word things a bit better so I don’t misunderstand. I know you might not like me being away from you, but I’ll be back. I won’t leave your place. I’ll bring a bag with me so I can stay with you all night. We can go to bed together and talk as we just hold each other. That truly sounds so nice right now. 

I’m sorry. I’m trying to get a handle on it, I really am. I know it’s not okay for me to be possessive over you, I understand that..and I’m trying to work on letting go a little bit. But yeah, I would like for you to come back after and just spend the night with me.

And I wish you weren’t. You have to realize that I’m going to be friends with guys. Plus it’s just Alex. I don’t see him like that. I mean I’ve been single for six years, Andy. If I wanted someone else, I would of done something by now, but I didn’t. I need you to trust my judgment. I could care less about other people, but I would never do anything to hurt you like that. That’s just not who I am. Be uncomfortable about it, but don’t guilt me for having friends of the opposite sex. As long as you never do that, and I know you won’t because you never have, then I’ll be okay. 

Hold on, stop. When did this become about me not wanting you to be friends with dudes? It has nothing to do with that. You’re just starting to take everything I say and reading between lines that aren’t even there and making it seem like I have trust issues. It has nothing to do with it being Alex. It has something to do with you giving your time to someone that’s not me may they have a dick or not. You know I’ve always been that way. Do you not remember the constant texts you would get when you were out with your girlfriends? It’s just me. It has nothing to do with him.

Maybe if you just slowly started treating me like your girlfriend, I’ll become more comfortable with it. It’s not a matter of if. I just..I need that push.

I can’t do that, because we both know that if I did, I wouldn’t be okay with your plans that you have for tomorrow.. Or have you forgotten how possessive I tend to be?

Do you promise to not let me get into my own head? That when you see me start to sabotage us, you’ll sit me down and make me see just how much we love each other? 

We’re going to do this your way, Adelaide it’s fine.. I guess.. you just.. let me know when and if you’re ever ready to go back to that.. just.. I hope it’s not to late by then

Just because I’m not ready just yet doesn’t mean I’m not hopelessly in love with you. It doesn’t mean I don’t want to be with you. I want to hold you, I want to kiss you, I want to be in your arms at night. How do you think that makes me feel? To so desperately want to be with you, but something in my own mind getting in my way. Can’t we just..take this one day at a time? Let nature run it’s course of sorts?

When are you going to realize that I need to be with you, Addie? But yeah.. yeah.. we’ll take it day by day I guess.. I don’t want to talk about it anymore.

I was trying to show you that..okay. I’m sorry. I won’t do that again. 

That is the best way to screw with my head, Addie. Kissing me tells me that we’re more than friends, but everything you’ve said to me tells me that all we are is friends and I honestly don’t know how to handle that because the way I love you, it makes it so hard for me to just be friends with you, I’m too in love with you and I have been for years.

I’m in a better place than I was back then, but that doesn’t mean I’m not still worried, but I do love you. 

Please don’t give up on us. I’ll drop it now, but don’t ever question if I want you or not. Because I always will. Now, where else should we take Ev tomorrow?

You can’t do that Addie! You can’t tell me that we’re not more than friends and then kiss me, that’s not how this works.
