I worked at a place that provided framing to many creative artists and photographers. And an employee was kind enough to give me several perfectly round mattes, for my own creative projects. I asked my roommates to decide what I should draw on one of the mattes, maybe it was too obvious that a moon would be both their choices. I made the decision to use primacolor makers and pencils; simply because of the lumpy texture the pencils created on the matte board, and the matte held the ink from the makers well. Standing only a few feet away the lumpy texture creates a realistic surface of the moon. Ironically, while I was drawing.
