it never fails to shake me to my core how the hbp movie not only did a poor ass job with harry and ginny’s relationship, but how it … refuses to even acknowledge it. they share a couple of awkward moments (chemistry? who?) and an equally awkward kiss and then … nothing. i don’t think they actually … have a real conversation … ever? and in the books, they’re this firework. they’re also both so fucking popular that their relationship instantly becomes Hot Gossip at hogwarts. they’re the couple that ends up in the yearbook, they just are that damn iconic. like heck. they’re a fucking it couple. their first kiss? probably made the front page of the daily prophet

I can’t even imagine how overwhelmed Harry’s system must have been when he started dating Ginny. He had been so incredibly touch-starved since he was a toddler, with only the occasional hug from Molly or Hermione or a clap on the back from Ron to carry him through the next few years, and now suddenly he’s with Ginny, and she touches him all the time. Like not even talking about sex, or kissing (though they do plenty of that and it’s brilliant), but just holding his hand or rubbing his back or leaning against him. Just holding him. And for the first time his body is flooded with dopamine and serotonin and oxytocin (also called the “cuddle hormone” kill me) and he’s “happier than he could remember being for a very long time.” Harry learning that it’s okay to let himself be touched, his muscles finally being able to relax; there’s no way he didn’t start sleeping better, too. He must have been straight-up addicted to her skin on his. It’s insane to think how much he must have craved even being next to her, I bet going to class or leaving her alone to study was torture.
