Knowing that yet again this might be completely ignored is a little discouraging, I’ll admit. But I thought I’d try.

Shit isn’t good. As some of you know, I have a medical condition and as the condition get’s worse, my ability to move lessens, thus less hours at work yet more and more medical bills as my doctor tries to prolong the inevitable. On top of that, I’m concerned that I might be heading for surgery which will keep me out of work for six weeks.

I no longer live with my parents. Haven’t in four years now and rather than living in an apartment, like I used to, I now live in a house. Imagine those bills. I can’t crawl back home because of my medical problems. No matter how much I love my mother and step father. Living there just wasn’t healthy for me-mentally.

On top of that.. Last year, right after marring my mother, said step father was diagnosed with cancer. A lot of you already know this also since I cry about it constantly. First, it was radiation, chemo and a feeding tube. My mom often had to miss work to take care of him and just as the tube was removed and he seemed to be getting better, he started coughing up blood again. The cancer was back and the treatment this time around was much more brutal. He had a 16 hour surgery to remove his voicebox and during all of this, including recovery time in the hospital, my mom never went to work. She couldn’t. She had to stay. She’s back to work finally but she’s missed so much and is the only one working and even though she doesn’t tell me her financial status, I know she’s hurting. Cancer has done a lot more than emotional and physical damage. 

My plan is to take the money I make and slowly help pay off what she owes.

For now, I’m only offering up one style of headshots.

Brooklyn Man With $10 Million Private African Art Collection Launches Kickstarter Campaign To Fund Museum.

The story of Eric Edwards

A former AT&T executive, attracted quite a bit of attention and gained a score of new supporters after he was featured alongside his $10 million private collection of African art for the documentary series The Collector. Edwards, a Brooklyn resident, estimates his collection of over 2500 pieces, to be worth approximate $10 million dollars. The extensive collection spans all 54 countries on the continent of Africa and some pieces date back to as much as 4,000 years.

Edwards announced his plans to open an African art museum in Brooklyn, so that his collection would live on and continue to be enjoyed by many for years to come. He hopes to open the Cultural Museum of African Art Eric Edwards Collection (CMAAEEC) by the summer of 2016, and has even secured famed architect Rodney Léon for the project. Léon helped design the African Burial Ground National Monument in Manhattan.

Edwards recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the project.

he told me a month or so ago that he would be “fined $10,000“ if he didn’t do it and that I should either take his insurance (which is a good like ¼ of my paycheck, and I live check by check p much) OR I can “go without it, pay the $200 fine at the end of the year and deal with it. You’re a healthy person right? That’s good” and that was the whole conversation. Okay thanks. No, I’m not very healthy at all, actually.

If you didn’t see the post I reblogged earlier–there was a catastrophic earthquake in Nepal. At least 1,200 people have died. Kathmandu was badly hit. It’s a city of over a million people. They’re going to need food, water, and shelter on top of medical help and search and rescue.

Food and bottled water are already running short. People are afraid to go back inside and are sleeping outside despite the cold.

If you can donate here are some reputable charities, who are already on the ground helping in the rescue efforts. And if you cannot donate, please consider reblogging.

(it happened today, april 25, and was measured at 7.8 on the richter scale in case you haven’t heard — which is likely, since i have seen exactly 0 posts on my dash about it)

just after i heard about it, i got a call from my grandmother in Kolkata, India. she told me there had been a large earthquake.

“how did you hear about it?” i asked.

“I didn’t,” she said. “i felt it.”

in case you didn’t know, that’s a distance of over 774 kilometers — 481 miles.

this was the Dharahara tower — one of Nepal’s most famous historical landmarks, and (I believe) a world heritage site:

so far, the earthquake has killed nearly 1,000 people, with many more injured. the death toll is expected to rise, as the full damage around the epicenter is not yet known.

this is nepal’s worst earthquake since 1932.

A 7.9 magnitude earthquake has hit Nepal. It’s sad to see that it’s not all over the news and that not many people know. It is our duty, as humans, to help those in need. Please spread this everywhere. Please pray for Nepal.
