“Yeah, I believe that was the name. Figured someone was pulling my leg or she had a next of kin running the ship when I read through the file. There wasn’t much to go on except that it would be an incredibly dangerous mission. Further details would be explained in person.” The elemental shifts her weight onto her other foot. The other soldiers who had been with her had already cleared out a while back, all evidence of the scuffle gone.

After the quarian introduced herself, her name jogged Aluna’s memory as she had gone over non-classified reports on the first Normandy’s crew. They had Tali pegged as an expert in anything geth and was a very talented technical expert.

“Pleasure to meet you, Tali. Major Aluna Sappheriox of the litharian military,” she replies, shaking the quarian’s proffered hand. “And I’m glad you are. At least now I won’t be wondering around the docks like an idiot.” There was a quick flash of a smile before it faded as she looked about the area.

Tali placed her right hand on her hip as she listened to the woman explain who she was and how she heard about Commander Shepred and the crew of the original SSV Normanday. She nods as she heard who she was.

“Pleasure is all mine.” She told her as her helmets mouth piece glowed as she spoke. “Its nothing bad, you should have seen me when I first started my pilgrimage.” She rubbed the visor on her helmet.

“The Omega 4 relay? No one who has gone through has ever made it back in one piece. Even our own researchers have attempted the jump and never returned,” she replies, crossing her arms over her chest. This was starting to sound like a conversation better spoken in private and said so. “Let me grab my things and change into something more appropriate. I’ll meet you and the commander aboard the Normandy if that’s alright. We can continue our discussion there.”

Her superiors would have to understand. Going through the Omega 4 relay would be an incredible feat but that was dangerous and downright suicidal. There were rumors whole human colonies were going dark and that Cerberus was involved. She would have to tread lightly if that was the chase. If Cerberus had a hand in this...

Strange, dark times

Omega was a damned shithole and that was putting it lightly. The stench coming up from the slums clung to everything. Fights broke out in the open, though they were smart to keep it away from Afterlife. Most of the time.

This was the place a healer turned soldier Major Aluna Sappheriox found herself in. There was reason to believe someone was selling illegal firearms. She nearly laughed at her superiors for such a statement. This was Omega. Damn near everything was illegal here. That was until gene targeters were mentioned and there was a possibility they were in contact with the Collectors. Her superiors wanted to keep it all hush hush because if word got out about such a weapon... She already was aware of the implications.

Aluna had to give the bastard this. He knew he was being tailed and was jumping from planet to planet, leading her on what most humans would call a "wild goose chase". They had phrases for nearly every kind of situation and she would've been amused if not for her current predicament. The last planet she left was Ilium and, frankly, she wished she could've stayed just a bit longer. At least the food there was better than anything on Omega.

Luckily, she'd dropped in after some plague ripped through the lower apartments, killing damn near everyone save for humans. Rumor had it that the virus was lab made courtesy of the enigmatic Collectors. It sounded horrible and she would've offered her services had she not been on her own mission. The need for secrecy was paramount.

Aluna soon found herself beginning to pace near the transport dock outside of Afterlife. She wore tight fitting blood red pants, a black crop top and a biker jacket with different asari and humans band logos stitched in. Her auburn hair was pulled up into a messy bun and she kept pushing the loose strands back behind her ears. She was supposed to meeting with a contact that would set her up with the arms dealer and he was taking just long enough to make her worry.

Did someone know who she was? Were they setting up an ambush right now?

The undercover soldier took in a breath and let it out slowly, casually inspecting her surroundings. A passerby would think her bored, waiting impatiently for the rest of her group to arrive. At least her "leave me the fuck alone" expression kept the most curious or "empathetic" individuals away. Empathetic. More like scammers looking to make a quick buck off the imbecilic. When she had first arrived on the asteroid, Aluna had requested an audience with Omega's unofficial ruler, Aria T'loak. The woman was certainly a gem, something valuable hidden under all the muck. It took a little persuading, and credits, before one of Aria's men, a batarian, set her up with someone they knew to be in contact with the arms dealer.

That led her to waiting nearly an hour by the dock before a twitchy looking salarian came rushing up to her.

"You weren't followed?" he asked her immediately.

"No. I'm not stupid." Her response was flat and she crossed her arms over her chest, shifting her weight onto her other foot. The alien had a pistol, standard issue, clipped to his belt. Aluna could subdue him before he even tried for it.

"Good. Good." He looked around quickly, stress coloring his voice. "Um..."

"Isn't this the part where you tell me what the price is for this shit, I say I cant afford it. We haggle. It gets violent and then I beat the crap out of you?"

The salarian paled, big eyes already growing wider, and shook his head violently.

"N-no. No. No. Ah... I'd rather avoid that," he stammers before calling up his omni tool and opening up a channel. "Hey, uh, yeah. I've got the buyer here and- No. No trouble... Why... am I calling? Um... They want to meet face to face and... don't look like they're leaving anytime soon. They, uh, probably just want to make sure everything looks good... Okay. Okay. We'll head over now."

The salarian draws in a breath before turning to the soldier who cocked an eyebrow at him.

"We good?" Aluna asks.

"Yes, we are. Follow me. He wants to meet up at an apartment."

"You try anything, or he does, no one's walking away from this."

"I-I wouldn't dream-" His mouth snapped shut with an audible click before leading the supposed buyer further into Omega.

When she landed on the spacestation called Omega, she definitely make sure that suits CO2 scrubbers and all those things were in prefect condition as she is 200% like to die from an infection from this god afull place. The young Quarian walked through the front doors and already able to see the long line to Afterlife.

"Keelah.." She said softly. "All these people on this space station reminds me of the Floatilla but there is no order, no one here is working towards the same goal." She told herself.

It worried her. If there were already other buyers then the weapons may have been distributed. Any sort of weapon has a serial to track it down if you know where to look. If there were more out in the market, gangs would no doubt be interested in them and there were plenty of those here on Omega. Word had gotten out that they, Blue Suns, Eclipse and Blood Pack, had banded together to bring down some vigilante who had been causing them some trouble. All three took a major hit during the fight and it was rumored this so-called Archangel was dead.

Pity. Sounded like he was trying to do some good, just in the wrong place.

Aluna glanced up in time for the salarian to enter a password into one door they'd stopped by. She tilted her right forearm just so, calling up her personal holo tool to catch the code before the door slid open. Who knew when she'd need it again?

Moving inside, the apartment was sparsely decorated, most of the original furnishings still in place. At the back, a makeshift office had been set up. Cartridges that looked like thermal clips covered most of one desk with a variety of weapons laying nearby. The clips glowed a soft green instead of the standard red and pulsed every so often.

The gene targeters weren't guns. They were the ammo!

Sitting there with two krogan bodyguards was a litharian. He had close cropped brown hair and a tan complexion and flashed his new "buyer" an easy grin. Just like Aluna, there were golden markings swirling around his left cheek, down his neck and no doubt spread to the rest of his body. Unlike her, however, she'd hidden hers using a thick concealer. Without the telltale elemental birthmarks her race had, she looked just like any other human.

She could tell that people were eyeing her up and down as not many Quarians wondered onto Omega except the one who sells overpriced salvage down on the lower levels.

She waited for the door to open as she crossed her arms as she heard a whistle as she looked behind her to see and hear a Turian say. "Damn goregous, your ass looks fine in that suit." This man was clearly drunk off his rocks.

Her gaze flicked to them once before settling on the elemental in front of her. That smug grin was still in place. Prick. Figures.

Aluna sighs and rests a hand on her hip, closest to the energy pistol she had stuck there. "So... the deal still on or are you going to be staring at my tits all night?"

The man let out a short bark of laughter and grinned broadly.

"Don't get your panties in a bunch. We're still good. I just wasn't expecting a fine piece of ass like yourself to be wandering in here," he replies, gaze raking slowly over her figure. "Mostly what I've been getting are fuck ugly krogan or the salarians. No offense, guys."

The krogan at his sides merely grunted in response.

Aluna resisted the urge to roll her eyes. "Credits are the only I'm willing to hand over here. Nothing. Else."

"Pity. Could've given you a night to remember."

"Too bad you're not my type. So. These the gene targeters you've been raving about?"

"Yup. Think of 'em like heat seeking missiles. Instead of latching onto infrared signatures, they're locking onto specific DNA signatures." He picked one and handed to her to inspect. "Thermal clip design helps with keeping it universal. It'll work in any gun and it shreds the target from the inside out. Hell, we've had one of our healers attempt to save a guy who'd been... who had volunteered to help with our little experiment. Had no luck." She repressed a shudder there. If these things got onto the market...

"How do they work?"

The dealer gently takes the clip from her and taps a button on the side, opening a slot.

"First, you'd have to collect DNA from which race you're looking to drop. Mix it in with the serum, which I'll add in for free, and the nanotech'll do the rest. Slot the formula in and you're set. I've already got vials for turians, vorcha, asari, even hanar if you can believe it. Each DNA vial'll cost ya about five thousand credits a pop."

So they had already been field tested and sold... If she was able to get a hold of the shipping manifest, even if people were using aliases, there were paper trails. She would be able to track them down before any real damage was done. No doubt Aria might even thank her for this. If someone were to bring that asari down...

"Sounds good. I'll take it."

"Alright. Good. Which vials would you like?"

"All of it."

His smile slipped for a fraction but he recovered his composure quickly.

"Great! I'll run the numbers, get the price and you can transfer the funds. Say, you're not some gang boss, are you? You look familiar. I didn't think any of the humans had a foothold here."

"Yeah, well, I'm not one of the idiots who like to broadcast damn near everything. Let's hurry it up." Aluna scoffs, shaking her head. Her palms started to sweat as the dealer began to pack up the remaining clips and vials.

He doesn't know who I am. He can't.

The sudden whine of an energy weapon powering up draws her attention to the front with the krogan aiming their claymore shotguns in her direction.

"You're the fucking Admiral's daughter. How the fuck didn't I notice?" the man snarls, aiming the handgun at her chest. Her hands had already gone up, a shocked expression plastered on her face.

"'Scuse me? Look, man, you've-"

"I don't have the wrong anybody. You're the bitch who's been tailing me for the last month and a half. I've been losing clients left and right because of you! You're the reason I had to move to Omega! Who else would buy this shit no question?"

"Oh, I'm the reason. Maybe it's because you're a shitty arms dealer who finally got caught in the act," Aluna shoots back. She swallows past a dry patch in her throat. Her COMM link had been on the entire time, transmitting her location as well as their conversation. She slightly prayed the soldiers were on their way now to secure the area.

"Bullshit. And I'm not getting caught here, missy. You've got three guns on you. You ain't getting outta here alive!"

"Wanna bet?"

Aluna had dropped into a low crouch a half second before the krogan fired their weapons, shrapnel whizzing by her head. The harsh scream of ripped metal filled the air as the floor tore apart in half beneath them, forming jagged spikes which went right through the alien armor.

The dealer had jumped clear, seeing the writing on the wall before they did, have Aluna one last glance before tearing out through the apartment door.

"Damn it... Pavoi, target is fleeing the area. Send in a team to secure the apartment. Track me. I'm heading after him," the elemental said before chasing off after the man.

"Copy that, ma'am. Team's on the way. Don't lose sight of him."

"I won't."

She is glad that is dealt with as she already had enough germs that could kill her, she sighed and looked forward. "Keelah." She said seeing the mad batarian prophet rambling on about gof knows what. She started to walk forwards towards the kiosks as she knew could be in and out quickly.

That thought kept pace with Aluna as she hunted down the fleeing arms dealer who flung discarded crates, furnishings, even the odd vorcha here and there.

"Sappheriox. Pavoi here."

"Go."

"Squad's arrived at the apartment. Securing it now. Do you need help with the target?"

"I've got him."

"Noted. Keep us posted. We've got both you and him tagged via security cam. Pavoi out."

The elemental put on a new burst of speed as she watches the dealer fling himself over a balcony overlooking the main street that opened up to the apartments and led out to the docking bay and the club. A batarian prophet had been standing to side preaching about the end of times and had, over the span of a few hours, collected a small congregation who scattered as they tried to get out of the way of the pursuit.

Aluna landed in a quick combat roll to absorb the impact and got to her feet fast, watching the dealer scramble around, searching for something.

"Looks like you're all out of options," she calls out. " She carefully strode toward him, tensing slightly. This was always the most dangerous part. Anyone backed into a corner would fight to the death, resorting to desperate measures.

Whatever had accounted for security here had finally shown up to who was disturbing their late night drinks, even if they were staying on the outskirts.

That was better than nothing.

Her target still had a gun in his hand and she knew damn well it was loaded with one of those specialty clips.

"What'll it be?" Her voice was calm, firm and brought the gun's sights back onto her. "You're outnumbered here. You go quietly, you stand a better chance at living through this. You don't then spirits help you."

He seemed to be mulling his options over in his head but Aluna could see him inching back toward the edge where aircars could be seen flying below. Either this would get him killed or he'd get away spectacularly. Pity he wouldn't make it that far as a sniper, who had already pinged her quietly, got into position well above her. If he made for the edge, he would be shot.

"You guys won't get shit from me. I've already activated a virus. It'll wipe everything on my hard drive. You wasted your time and you ain't catching me." As his finished his last sentence, he was already aiming his gun at someone in the crowd that had sprung up on the sidelines.

A quarian. Had to be the only quarian in the crowd as they stuck out like a sore thumb.

She looked at the men take this person away then she looked over at the 'Human' looking girl. "Well that was most certainly something." Tali said as her mouth piece on her helmet flashed everytime she spoke as she nodded.

"You think this was all rigged?" she asks.

"Looks like it. We'll only know for sure after running tests on those vials we collected back at the apartment."

"Keep me posted. I've got a few I need to grab before leaving here. Let me know if anything changes."

"Looks like you're all out of options," she calls out. " She carefully strode toward him, tensing slightly. This was always the most dangerous part. Anyone backed into a corner would fight to the death, resorting to desperate measures.

Whatever had accounted for security here had finally shown up to who was disturbing their late night drinks, even if they were staying on the outskirts.

"What'll it be?" Her voice was calm, firm and brought the gun's sights back onto her. "You're outnumbered here. You go quietly, you stand a better chance at living through this. You don't then spirits help you."

Either this would get him killed or he'd get away spectacularly. Pity he wouldn't make it that far as a sniper, who had already pinged her quietly, got into position well above her. Luckily, she'd dropped in after some plague ripped through the lower apartments, killing damn near everyone save for humans. Luckily, she'd dropped in after some plague ripped through the lower apartments, killing damn near everyone save for humans. Rumor had it that the virus was lab made courtesy of the enigmatic Collectors. It sounded horrible and she would've offered her services had she not been on her own mission. The need for secrecy was paramount.

Aluna soon found herself beginning to pace near the transport dock outside of Afterlife. She wore tight fitting blood red pants, a black crop top and a biker jacket with different asari and humans band logos stitched in. Her auburn hair was pulled up into a messy bun and she kept pushing the loose strands back behind her ears. She was supposed to meeting with a contact that would set her up with the arms dealer and he was taking just long enough to make her worry.

Did someone know who she was? Were they setting up an ambush right now?

The undercover soldier took in a breath and let it out slowly, casually inspecting her surroundings. A passerby would think her bored, waiting impatiently for the rest of her group to arrive. At least her "leave me the fuck alone" expression kept the most curious or "empathetic" individuals away. Empathetic. More like scammers looking to make a quick buck off the imbecilic. When she had first arrived on the asteroid, Aluna had requested an audience with Omega's unofficial ruler, Aria T'loak. The woman was certainly a gem, something valuable hidden under all the muck. It took a little persuading, and credits, before one of Aria's men, a batarian, set her up with someone they knew to be in contact with the arms dealer.

That led her to waiting nearly an hour by the dock before a twitchy looking salarian came rushing up to her.

"You weren't followed?" he asked her immediately.

"No. I'm not stupid." Her response was flat and she crossed her arms over her chest, shifting her weight onto her other foot. The alien had a pistol, standard issue, clipped to his belt. Aluna could subdue him before he even tried for it.

"Good. Good." He looked around quickly, stress coloring his voice. "Um..."

"Isn't this the part where you tell me what the price is for this shit, I say I cant afford it. We haggle. It gets violent and then I beat the crap out of you?"

The salarian paled, big eyes already growing wider, and shook his head violently.

"N-no. No. No. Ah... I'd rather avoid that," he stammers before calling up his omni tool and opening up a channel. "Hey, uh, yeah. I've got the buyer here and- No. No trouble... Why... am I calling? Um... They want to meet face to face and... don't look like they're leaving anytime soon. They, uh, probably just want to make sure everything looks good... Okay. Okay. We'll head over now."

The salarian draws in a breath before turning to the soldier who cocked an eyebrow at him.

"We good?" Aluna asks.

"Yes, we are. Follow me. He wants to meet up at an apartment."

"You try anything, or he does, no one's walking away from this."

"I-I wouldn't dream-" His mouth snapped shut with an audible click before leading the supposed buyer further into Omega.

When she landed on the spacestation called Omega, she definitely make sure that suits CO2 scrubbers and all those things were in prefect condition as she is 200% like to die from an infection from this god afull place. The young Quarian walked through the front doors and already able to see the long line to Afterlife.

"Keelah.." She said softly. "All these people on this space station reminds me of the Floatilla but there is no order, no one here is working towards the same goal." She told herself.

It worried her. If there were already other buyers then the weapons may have been distributed. Any sort of weapon has a serial to track it down if you know where to look. If there were more out in the market, gangs would no doubt be interested in them and there were plenty of those here on Omega. Word had gotten out that they, Blue Suns, Eclipse and Blood Pack, had banded together to bring down some vigilante who had been causing them some trouble. All three took a major hit during the fight and it was rumored this so-called Archangel was dead.

Pity. Sounded like he was trying to do some good, just in the wrong place.

Aluna glanced up in time for the salarian to enter a password into one door they'd stopped by. She tilted her right forearm just so, calling up her personal holo tool to catch the code before the door slid open. Who knew when she'd need it again?

Moving inside, the apartment was sparsely decorated, most of the original furnishings still in place. At the back, a makeshift office had been set up. Cartridges that looked like thermal clips covered most of one desk with a variety of weapons laying nearby. The clips glowed a soft green instead of the standard red and pulsed every so often.

The gene targeters weren't guns. They were the ammo!

Sitting there with two krogan bodyguards was a litharian. He had close cropped brown hair and a tan complexion and flashed his new "buyer" an easy grin. Just like Aluna, there were golden markings swirling around his left cheek, down his neck and no doubt spread to the rest of his body. Unlike her, however, she'd hidden hers using a thick concealer. Without the telltale elemental birthmarks her race had, she looked just like any other human.

“Do not. Touch. Those controls.” 

“The stars are so beautiful here…” 

“That’s the weirdest plant I’ve ever seen.” 

“Is this what you do in engineering all the time?” 

“Please don’t accidentally blow up our ship.” 

“Hey, I’m a smuggler, not a killer!” 

“You criminals all look the same, crawling around in the darkest crevices of the galaxy like insects.” 

“…Well… you certainly aren’t part of the crew.” 

“Who…are you?” 

“Captain!” 

“Is my skin supposed to turn green?” 

“I think I need to go to medical…” 

“How come you get private quarters when I get to bunk with four other people?” 

“Sir the engines are down!” 

“Uh-oh, that didn’t sound good.” 

“Are the alarms supposed to be going off during a covert mission?” 

“We’ve intercepted a message.”
