when  it  is  left  to  annatar  to  attend  diplomatic  missions  and  symposiums,    sauron  opts  for  alternative  attire  to  what  is  worn  in  death’s  country.     the  maia  adopts  more  grandiose  materials,    lining  his  clothes  with  golden  silks  and  ornaments.     he  also  dons  protective  armaments,     such  as  his  mithril  bracers  and  boots. the  more  ornamental  additions  to  sauron’s  dressing  are  suggestive  of  his  inherent  narcissism,    whilst  his  mithril  plating  hints  at  a    latent   paranoia    that  has  been  present  in  the  maia  since  his  master’s  passing  into  the  void  in  the  first  age.
