dont underestimate the power of kindness. strength is not being cold hearted and aloof, it’s being amicable in the face of bitterness or gentle with those who need to be loved. so please, if nothing else, be kind.
not to be naive but it still shocks me when people are so apathetic and cruel towards others like .. you’re literally rotting on the inside … , hope you feel better soon ?

FALSE REALITIES
The past few months have felt like my feet have been dangling Off the edge of a chair like a little kid trying to find the floor With the tip of my toes, trying to grasp something just out of reach. I’ve been blowing out the candles on other peoples birthday cakes, Wishing to be anyone other than who I actually am. I’m walking miles in another persons shoes Gaining nothing but blisters on the back of my ankles. Playing dress up in all of my sisters clothes, Wishing to appear more put together than I actually am. I apply my lipstick like a masquerade mask, Insisting no one can see the pain if I paint on a smile. I’ve considered getting contacts so I can see the world From a better point of view. i’ve been sketching myself into false realities As a distraction from the one I’m living in. I started driving home without my seatbelt on, Started crying to songs I once danced to. Wishing on street lights, Tossing all my change into fountains And holding my breath across every bridge. I changed all my clocks to 11:11 and convinced myself That if I wished hard enough I could fix all of my problems Without getting my hands dirty and my heart messy. When people ask me how I am I wonder if they realize They are speaking to a hollowed out shell of a girl they once knew. That there is nothing left of what used to be.

HOLY AND GLORIOUS
Everywhere I go is just another place That reminds me of how much I miss you, But it no longer hurts like it used to. You see it’s less about still being heart broken, And more about appreciating us for what we were. Something holy and glorious.
We stood on holy ground and swore we were invincible. Blocked the noise of the world out With the secrets we kept just for ourselves. We didn’t need anyone but each other. It was us against the world.
But that promise of forever didn’t last long And we ended up falling apart in the usual way lovers do. I can’t help but wonder how you think about it now. If you still think about us at all.
I know we have to move on but I can’t help But feel like our story isn’t finished yet. So tonight let’s share one last dance. For everything we’ve been through. For the tears and the mistrust. The heartache and the mistakes. Because the truth is, I still don’t want to dance Unless it’s with you.
THINGS THAT REMIND ME OF YOU:
THE SOUND OF CHURCH BELLS / CAR ALARMS / BROKEN GLASS / RED BEANIES / ANY WHITE GUY WITH A BEARD / HOT CHOCOLATE / PINKY PROMISES / BREAKING THEM / THE SMELL OF AUTUMN / A BROKEN CLOCK / RED FLANNELS / THE SOUND OF A KEY AGAINST A CAR DOOR / EMPTY PHOTO ALBUMS / HOT FUDGE SUNDAES / FAKE MARRIAGE PROPOSALS / POETRY / ALL OF THIS DAMN POETRY / SUNDAY MORNINGS / THE WHISPER OF A PRAYER / THE FEELING OF FALLING / AND NOT BEING ABLE TO CATCH YOURSELF.

CAFFEINE CRUSH
The first time I knew that I loved you Was inside of that hidden coffee shop. There we were nothing more than foggy mornings And window seats and ripped faded jeans. We didn’t have to try so hard. We talked about everything from my poetry To your fascination with black holes. Sharing smirks across cafe tables, We shared a pastry of our choosing As we learned each others secrets. This is where it all began.
You would order tea instead of coffee And you always take it with honey. I didn’t know how much these coffee dates Would end up meaning to me one day. But then again, maybe I did. Because as you walked me to my car I remember turning to you and saying That I’m going to remember this moment. I’m going to remember this feeling.

Commissioned by @shvrkworld, my single-line drawing of a kiss redone with two girls.
This is for all of the witches they were unsuccessful at burning The ones who can still feel the flames on their skin. For the ones with lit fireworks cracking in their rib cages And burn marks from all of the battles They shouldn’t have had to fight.
They burned our ancestors and now they’re trying to burn us too. Coming at us armed with their pitchforks and their proof, Claiming that we have broken the law, When all we’ve done is live. Our existence shouldn’t be a crime.
And for every lie that we tell them In attempt to save ourselves, Always comes back to haunt us. For every mistake that we’ve made, There’s a crowd waiting to crucify us. We grew up learning to live in the shadows And hide away the fiercest parts of who we are Because it’s safer that way.
But tonight, everything changes. Let them think that they finally won, That they’ve finally silenced us. But just like a phoenix we will rise from the ashes. We will stand together hand in hand And when we’re done we will make sure No women ever gets burned again.
