✓ The Jaegar program was starting to take a turn, more for the worse. The pilots were falling prey to the Kaiju in the blink of an eye, faster than the program could produce more of the weapons originally intended to defeat the monsters from deep within the trench. And in so, with each new Jaegar, would need new pilots. At the alarming death rate as of late, the cadet list had seemed to be growing smaller, and those truly willing to share a mind within the robot were a rare occurrence.

✓ Of course, that didn’t mean that the research team was growing any smaller. A few new members here and there would join the redhead. The company was always nice, and the change of pace kept the scientist on his toes. The latest samples had been classified and stored with the utmost care as to not damage the tissue, and with that, Etzel would watch the fixing of Jaegars, and found himself becoming enthralled with how the pilot system worked. How the two minds connected in the ‘drift compatibility’ and the two pilots would share thoughts and memories. Even if he had his thoughts of placing himself on the cadet list, he remained within the research department.

✓ The uproar coming from down the hall told him that pilots had returned from a successful mission, and therefore, new Kaiju tissue was being brought in. He couldn’t stop the slight smile from appearing, as the carts were rolled in, a thin sheet to cover the samples from the rain outside. Pulling the sheets off gently, the redhead immediately began scribbling on the notepad resting in his hands, only to look up as boots clacked against the floor, the sound resonating throughout the room. Having someone visit while he was studying was always amazing; he could teach people so much about the Kaiju, while he learned something new himself with each sample brought in. Or perhaps another fellow researcher to which he could talk endlessly to. “Hello. What brings you to the lab today? anything I can help you with?”
