If Tommy was honest, Connor going back to Cyberlife would be in his favour in every possible aspect. That way, at least, he didn’t have to worry about the other finally discovering that it was him who he was hunting. It had gotten awfully close a couple of times, and Tommy had only managed to slip away by about a hair’s length. Exciting once upon a time, but too close for comfort now that he’d lost at his own game and started to feel more for Connor than he should.
But still..
Having done his research, Tommy was also fully aware that going back to Cyberlife was not an ideal solution in any shape or form. “No, I’m not agitated. Confused, maybe, but not that.” Clearing his throat, he pulled out his cigarettes, disregarding Connor’s dislike for them, and put one between his lips. “I just don’t get it. Why the fuck would you want to go back there, eh? You don’t need them.” Lighting up his cigarette, he leaned back in his seat and took a long drag, exhaling the smoke slowly as he finally willed himself to look at the android. “How can I support something I don’t think is in your best interest?”
The cigarette, his expression didn't show it, but it has bothered him (it always did), also, he was almost positive that Tommy was probably doing this on purpose. He grabbed the ashtray that was over the table and walked over towards the other to hand it to him so he put the cigarette off. -- "Well, as a matter of fact, I do need them." If something happened to him, if there was a malfunction in him, it was only them that have the right biocomponents to fix him and after what he had done, he didn't know how easy or if they would even bother to hand the right pieces over, but this was no reason behind his decision.
At his question, he grew quiet. He himself knew how much he could end up regretting this at the end, but at the same time, not only did the walls of Cyberlife and the people in it made him feel less lost, but Cyberlife itself was losing an incredible amount of money with the androids and pieces being stolen from them only to end up who knew where, so the police and the company found it necessary and much more convenient to work together once again, putting Connor in the middle of it all a second time around. And just as he had been programmed, he didn't mind, as long as he was able to get to the bottom of this situation and like always, accomplish the mission that had been assigned to him. Exactly like before.
Instead of returning to his seat, he sat at the table in front of Tommy. "It's not in my best interest, this I will have to agree with you, but..." He knew he shouldn't say this to him or anyone, but in Tommy, he couldn't trust, right? "You know that case about the androids." The one he was sure he talked too much about to Tommy that he was probably tired hearing of it. "We have tried for weeks, months to know who is behind it and put an end to it, but it's not happening. I mean, we don't even know where they are ending up." Something that made him feel like a complete failure if he had to be honest. "So just like with the deviants, I will be working with... well, for them. Not only do they think we're doing a lousy job, but we had made zero progress, so there's a talk about some new updates for myself, but I still don't know much. Believe me, I'm not so sure about this myself, but right now, it's the only option we have."
