My father: *noticing Anakin looking at Obi-Wan a certain way, for a little too long * So this is when their bromance is at its highest right, Anix?

Me: *trying to word is wisely* Well—before he turned, yeah.

ROTS: “You were my brother Anakin! I loved you.”

My father: *squints eyes, but remembers that he said ‘brother’*

Me: *watching the kenobi series*

Kenobi series: ‘Bacta Bros’, “Kenobi is all that matters”, “He’s been looking for you for a long time”, “I am what you made me”, “All he will see is me”, “Do you really want Anakin dead?”, “I’m sorry, Anakin. For all of it.”, “You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker. I did.”, “Perhaps your…feelings for you old master have left you weakened.”

Kind, on the good side of the force, level-headed, loved, etc.

I was just rewatching Return of the Jedi and Anakin compares Luke to Obi by saying that they had a similar train of thought. (And then he starts looking off into the distance; the whole brooding thing, like he’s thinking yk.)

Luke reminds Darth Vader/Anakin of Obi-Wan so much, with the whole quote parallels, (“Then my friend is truly dead.”, “Then my father is truly dead.”), and how they have similar train of thought, fighting techniques—and Vader, somewhere, can’t help but be proud of his son.

Darth Vader sees so much of Obi-Wan in Luke, and somewhere deep down where Anakin is, he’s proud of him; he’s proud of the man his son has become. He’s proud of him for staying on the good side and taking a stand against palpatine, not giving into the Dark Side.

Despite his loyalties to palpatine, Vader/Anakin is glad—he’s really really happy—that Luke didn’t cross over. He didn’t want Luke to cross over like he did.

He wanted Luke to be better than him.

Hm.

Must just be a them thing then—

“You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker. I did. The same way I will destroy you.”

Obi-Wan to Vader,

“Then my friend is truly dead.”

Luke to Vader,

“Then my father is truly dead.”

*silence*

Stormtrooper 1: So did you hear what happened today?

Stormtrooper 2: What?

Stormtrooper 1: Today, in the main hanger, they were targeting a ship, right— full of rebels, and then one ship comes down and then Vader tells us to start following that one specifically.

Stormtrooper 2: Oh-?

Stormtrooper 1:—He starts telling us to follow that little ship, and the Grand Inquisitor’s all like ‘no no don’t do that, follow the main ship, they’re what’s important’—Right?

Stormtrooper 2: Right!!

Stormtrooper 1: So Vader goes ‘I don’t care, this Jedi is special.’

Stormtrooper 2:*realization* Oh no…

Stormtrooper 1: And do you know who that Jedi was?

Stormtrooper 2: Don’t say—

Stormtrooper 1: Kenobi!!!

Stormtrooper 2: Oh for fucks sake—
