Piece I made for my Daggerheart campaign character Thorne, reflecting her mental state upon receiving strong evidence as to who murdered her parents.
The campaign revolves around a world where magic is sung using the four classical elements, but fire singing is outlawed. Based on the 5E Humblewood setting, the campaign starts one year after the burning down of the Westmarches. Thorne's parents died when she was an infant when their warren caught fire. Too young to understand what was happening, the dancing flames imprinted on the young hare, leaving her with a taboo desire she yearns to explore. Upon learning her parents - who had been posthumously slandered to be pyromancers - were murdered by one of their close trusted friends, who was also believed to be the one to burn down the Westmarches, Thorne's heart rages to fight fire with fire. Will she be able to contain it? Or will the flames consume her and consign her to her parent's fate.
The card features Thorne wielding scales and a sword in the pose of lady justice, while a wide brimmed had obscures her eyes. Unlike lady justice the scales are tipped with one engulfed in flame that seems to be weighing it down and her sword is badly chipped. Above her looms a stoat's skull, intended to represent the professor (A stoat) suspected to have burned the marches. To either side of the skull are two hares wearing thorn crowns, representing Thorne's parents and the burden of their legacy. The image is also textured with a slough of tally marks, meant to represent the souls who perished in the Westmarch fire, presumably by the professor's hand.
