Journalist: Welcome to Download. You may know this from the sucess of Hellfest, which takes place every year at the end of June in Clisson near Nantes and is now the second largest festival in terms of attendance across all genres: the country rediscovered "smic" metal (minimum wage metal). A real ring of teddy bears, yes, but profitable, because metal fans buy records, T-shirts, and especially love going to these summer gatherings to see their favourite bands in concert. So, we came here at Brétigny-sur-Orge to see and understand what makes a metal festival much more special than a rock festival.

Male attendee: If theres a genre of music that truly accepts everyone, it's metal. We can come however we like and however we are, it's no problem. I think I even saw a unicorn or a Pikachu earlier, for example, nobody made fun of him, see.

Female attendee: Its kind of like our vacations, in fact. It's the part of the year when we treat ourselves because the atmosphere is different, people are cool and so is the music.

Journalist: Here, image plays an important role, and the Swedish band Ghost understood this well. All of its musicians are masked for what looks like some kind of devilish musical. In fact, their singer doesn’t want to show his face.

TF: The music was of such nature that I felt immediately that this would not correspond with a "normal" look/visual presentation. And that's when the idea of a more over the top and unreal concept came. I think that there's definitely a good amount of cabaret and musical comedy in our shows, much more than there is in other rock band shows. That said, we are a rock band and we play rock music.

Female attendee: It’s like a family actually. We all listen to the same thing and we get together; it creates a unity.

Male attendee: Download did something amazing by offering different headliners, a different lineup, maybe younger. They have stood out, proof being that the festival is in its 3rd edition with success.

Journalist: First headliner: Ozzy Osbourne from Black Sabbath, 50 years of career and several generations of fans.

Male attendee: First concert, Iron Maiden at Bercy in '86, 250 concerts to my credit, never brawn. I have my kids with me, and my wife. Besides we work administrative jobs, we aren’t savages.

Zakk Wylde: The strength of music, you know what I mean? If people still want to hear those songs, it’s because it’s good music.

Journalist: Ozzy is going to celebrate his 70th birthday. Do you think you’ll still be on stage when you’re that age?

Zakk Wylde: God willing man. I just have to eat plenty protein and get my daily dose of fibre [laughs]. It’s important to stay in shape so we’ll try to make that happen. If I’m still doing that at 70, I’ll thank god because would mean that I’m still doing what I love to do.

Journalist: On Saturday the headliner is Marilyn Manson, Sunday, a lot more rock, the Foo Fighters and the grand finale is expected on Monday with the only French concert of the year, the Guns N’ Roses for a 3+ hours show.
