“ Do you want some ? ” You ask, designating the wooden bowl set before you. There were many chopped fruits laying there beautifully and he couldn't help but catch a glimpse of a star shaped fruit. 

“ Yes. But what is this ? ” He pointed out the yellow fruit and you took one that you brought towards his mouth. Jack immediately wraps his mouth around it and proceeds to chew it appreciatively. Its sweet-sourness splashes against Jack’s taste buds. Its taste reminds him of cucumbers and citrus mixed altogether.The cryptic expression on his face makes you smile and Jack lifts a brow at you.

“ So, what is it ? ”

“ Carambola. Do you like it ? ” You take one piece and eat it appreciatively while he watches.

“ I don’t know. It’s more water than sugar ?”

“ Yeah, I wasn’t so sure about it too the first time I ate one.But it grows on you. ”

You’re both sitting outside. The villa you rented a few weeks before your departure is facing the sea where a small basalt island can be seen on the horizon. You always thought it indeed looked like a diamond shining bright amongst the vast ocean trapping it alone.

Beside you Jack is reading, taking a sip of the smoothie he prepared with watermelons and bananas from time to time. 

It should be illegal to look this handsome with readers on but it’s also because he’s got his torso exposed, freckles decorated his skin everywhere your eyes landed on. Even at fifty, Jack insisted of maintaining the best routines to keep his health as good as possible. You don’t know how he does it. He works twelve hour nightshifts, is a S.W.A.T physician as a hobby but also manages to find time to work out. Most importantly : he has time for you. Always. He needed that honeymoon more than you. To be honest you had organized most of it and forbid your man to lend you help. He needed to be at rest. Far away from work, from stress from the weight of missing something that you know he would never confess.

“ And you accuse me of staring a lot. ” He quips nonchalantly, eyes still pinned to the words written on the book he’s reading. You remember eyeing him when he grabbed the book from its shelf in the romance section, not picking at all for a romance novel type of guy. At home he had dozens of books, most of them about psychology, health and science. That was the first one.

“ I wasn’t staring. ” His hazel orbs leave his book to find yours. He obviously doesn’t believe you but makes no big deal of it. It’s just a simple banter to break the silence made of singing birds and cool breeze and the sound of leaves rustling in the wind. “ …Okay, fine. What if I was ?”

“ Then nothing, pretty girl.” The term of endearment causes you to smile and you reach for the glass sitting on the table that was placed between your lounges. 

“ All of this for that.” You teases. Jack arch a brows while his gaze follow each one of your movements. 

“ Don’t be a brat, honey. ” Shivers roll down your spine this time and soon it’s warmth that spreads all its way down to your core. And Jack of course notices how quick you are to become hot and bothered by the sound of his voice, how quick you shift positions on your lounge chair. Suddenly it’s the translucent pearl rolling down your clavicle before disappearing in your cleavage. You catch the hot trail his gaze leaves upon your skin and you remember there’s just the two of you here. No passerbys and no neighbors to catch Jack fucking your brains out by the pool, where the sun burns your skin through the curtains of sweat, where the salt air clings to your lungs as his name exits your lips desperately.
