“That’s not my shtick.” He said with a shrug. “You may be the client, but until you express genuine interest I’m not going to jump through hoops trying to get you to take notice. If you want something from me, ask. If you don’t? No skin off my back. There are plenty of guys around here who know what they want and don’t bother with details. In fact I’m pretty sure pride can be a turn off in these parts.”
Hiro couldn't be sure yet, but in spite of the other being what he considered rude, he was intrigued. They didn't mince words and didn't cow to him. If wasn't sure if they were stubborn or stupid. His eyes narrowed as he looked them over once more, trying to get a read on their body language. Perhaps this one would be more fun than he thought. “What is your shtick? If you're not interested his impressing the people that pay to be here ensuring you keep your position and get paid, I'm curious to know what you are interested in?”

Despite the mess and the image that haunted him for months after, Hiro was right and it all served a greater purpose. They sort of restored the peace between the clans. “I thought this would be an interesting opportunity. I signed up and I’m also supposed to get manage and organize the events and big things happening at the Haus. I just haven’t had the time to sit down with Mr. Blackwell and talk about my actual responsabilities here.” Redmond explained. “Aside from that, the other side of my work is pretty clear. Listen, obey and perform. I’ve had no problems with that.”Â
“So you're a party planner?” Hiro asked.  That was intriguing. Not in the way that Hiro was interesting the work that went into the events at the Haus, but someone hired on for that sort of work would have to be creative and quick on their toes. Always able to fill in the gaps when something went wrong. A useful person indeed. His lip turned up quickly in a smile that was less that subtle. “You make is sound like you're a circus animal,” he said. “Do they give you nice treats if you're a good boy?”
coltxsteele:
“Not really. Our preferences don’t line up, I’m not a fan of wasting time. Yours or mine.”Â
“Not really?” If it wasn’t for the fact that Hiro was so insulted he would be impressed with the other’s bravado. “You don’t even know what my preferences are, outside of asking for a little more attention to detail in your work. Don’t you have any pride? I’ve met people taken from tier homes and forced into prostitution put in more effort than this  Do you treat everyone this way? I feel like I should report you.”

Redmond sighed and shook his head. “Of course they didn’t do that! They hate me.” He had never done anything to his half brothers, but they just did not like him because he was the bastard and always got pushed aside. “Yeah, they protected me and everyone from the asshole, but they did it in my club and I they made the biggest mess I’ve ever scene. It was a true horror scene.” He sighed, just remembering all the work it took to get the place back to normal. “No, actually. I guess the message was loud and clear. No more trouble from them.”Â
Hiro frowned. “I see,” he said darkly. He did have siblings. He grew up an only child but surely that was not how things went. Even among the men he worked with there was a familial bond between them You did not behave in such a fashion and not expect someone to make you pay for it. Then again these were Americans. They always did things differently.  “At least one good thing came of all that horror,” he said. “So how did you end up here? Did your family not take exception to you leaving them to come work here?

Redmond immediately shook his head, and held up his hands. “No! I did not kill him, but I gotta admit that in my mind I smashed his skull in several times.” He squared his jaw and clenched his fist, just remembering the terrible experienced he had with the man. “Okay, so… my father’s family is this old money, long tradition sort of mafia of men you should not cross. This other guy was obviously an enemy and they had some agreement to keep peace between the families, but the man was being a smartass and breaking some of the rules. Plush he had a weird obsession with me so I had to lure him into my club and then my brothers- half brothers whacked him right there in front of me.” He explained. “It got too gory from there. They had to chop him to pieces and then deliver them to some members of the other gang to send a message.” He shivered. “And all of this happened on my club’s floor so guess who had to clean all of the mess? This guy.” He pointed at himself.Â
Hiro nodded as the other spoke, his expression a serious mask of understanding and a touch sympathetic. He knew all too well how those sort of agreements went. Two parties trying not to step on each other's toes when really all they wanted to do was bulldoze the other out of the ay to gain more ground. They were always a mess and someone always broke the treaty. Usually, some smartass punk that had no regard for propriety. After that, the only thing left to do was send a message in blood. Otherwise, no one would learn anything and what was the point of that? “It must have taken awhile to get all the blood up,” he said speaking from too much experience. “I hope your brothers at least put down some plastic tarps to help make things little easier for you. I must ask, did your family have any more trouble from that organization?”

Redmond sort of grew up listening to the stories about his father’s family and how they were ruthless and respected by the members of the community where they lived in. Aside from the fact that he was never accepted nor embraced by his half brothers because he was the bastard, Red never showed any interest or skills to take on the family job. Instead, he took care of the flashy businesses while the rest of the Santoros took care of the underground deals. “My best story? Uh… one time I helped cover up a murder but it was not as badass as it probably was for you. It was the first time I saw a dead person and… it was a real shocker.”
“Covered up a murder?” Hiro was intrigued and his dark eye glittered with excitement. Finally one of the staff really holding his interest. “I would love to know the circumstances. Did you kill them?” He doubted it, somehow as the other next to him didn’t look like the killing type but looks were often deceiving. He gave a slow nod forward. “One’s first time with the dead is always shocking. I don’t think that changes with people. Mine was, but my Oyabun explained that I had acted right in the situation and to remember that it wasn't personal. It was business. It’s something that I have never forgotten.”
coltxsteele:
“I should’ve known this was too forward a move to make on a client. I thought keeping my pants on made it okay. You have to admit, this was a hell of a lot more exciting to walk in on than me fully clothed trying to buy you a drink. I was skipping to the fun part.”
“that is where you are wrong,” Hiro pointed out looking thoroughly unimpressed. “The fun part is the part where you buy me a drink and engage me in conversation. Your current approach lack tacks, nuance, and skill. I came here to be impressed. Would you care to try again?”
Spring Fling || Hiro and Red
red-hartx:
Red had no expectations whatsoever when he asked Hiro to tell him a crazy story. He had no background nor previous reference from the client, so the redhead knew he could expect anything. Of course, when the confession involved cutting someone’s throat and being a damn hero just at 16 years old, Red’s jaw dropped to the ground and shook his head. “What? Seriously?” He chuckled and felt incredibly intimidated and quite… insignificant compared to what Hiro claimed he’d done. “That’s badass. Like, it sounds something a spy would do and only at 16! Did your experiences only got crazier or did they tone down eventually?”Â
The other reaction was charming. Hiro expected something like disbelief but the other seemed to be taking the ride. Not that Hiro was telling tall tales. He didn't need to. Since he first joined the Yakuza his life has been like a movie. He laughed out loud, throwing his head back. “A badass? Yes. I like the sound of that.” He grinned shaking his head. “I've had my ups and downs. Not everything can be exciting all the time. These days I own restaurants and shops, but I still have my moments.” He didn't mention that his businesses were simply fronts for other things and one mess up cost him the little finger on his right hand, but he didn't see the need to tell all his stories. Not in one night. “What about you? What's your best story?”

“Red. I like Red the most.” The tall man answered truthfully, being so much more used to being called Red than his whole name. Plus as cliche and obvious as it was because of his hair color, he had learned to love and cherish that name. It was unique. He had to come up with a quick question to ask Hiro and it sucked because he panicked and could not think of anything. It was like those very important moments where you needed your brain the most and it just stopped working, it was all blank. “Tell me the craziest thing about you. Something that I won’t even believe and that will sound like a complete and utter lie, but is actually true.” Red seriously had no idea what to expect out of the client but this could give him a bit of sense about the man.Â
Very well. Red it is.” Hiro like that. The name Redmond was nice, but there was something fun about calling the other Red. It, for lack of better word, was colorful and would make him stand out in his mind a lot more. So far this wasn't bad. He was attractive company that seemed utterly adorable.  He snatched up another drink from a passing waiter as he waited for the other ask about him. He expected the usual small talk. What did you do for a living? Where did you grow up? Simple things that he could answer quickly and with little fuss. The question he got was different. Something crazy? Hiro pondered over this for second of two, sorting through memories looking for something that would fit the bill. “When I was sixteen I cut a man's throat,” he said nonchalantly. “That same year I saved the daughter of my boss from being kidnapped and sold as a sex slave.”

Redmond let out a soft chuckle, knowing exactly what Hiro was talking about when it all made sense in his head why he was called Red. “I mean, my name is not just Red. The full thing is Redmond, but despite what my mother says… I believe it has everything to do with the hair on top of my head.” The staff member explained with a soft chuckle and then linked arms with the client he’d picked for the night. “I actually didn’t plan anything? Was I supposed to?” He panicked for a moment. “I also hope this wasn’t totally random. I just wanted to be paired up with someone I didn’t know so I checked the list of clients and figured it would be interesting to get to know you! I hope that’s okay… but then again you can’t also complain and are stuck with me.” Red turned to Hiro and bit down his bottom lip. “Anyway, I promise I will try to make it fun… or enjoyable at least so you don’t end up feeling like you want to run away from me after 15 minutes.”Â
Hiro listened his gaze locked on the staff member.  The man seemed to take his remark well, which in Hiro's books was a good sign. “Which would you prefer to be called?” He asked. “Red and or Redmond? Or perhaps you have some quirky little nickname you would like to share?” AS the other linked arms with him, Hiro started to walk with no place in mind.  A casual stroll around the party while they chatted and made plans for the time they had together. “I supposed you weren't expected to,” he said. He was a little disappointed that the other didn't have anything in mind. What was the point of giving the control the to the staff if they didn't execute the idea to the fullest.  “getting to know me? That's a dangerous pastime, but I'll indulge you. What did you want to know?” He looked at the other a soft smile on his lips. “I'm sure you will and so far you're doing a fine job. The thought of leaving you stranded hasn't entered my head at all.”
Spring Fling || Hiro and Red
Hiro gathered with everyone else as Mr. Blackwell made the announcement. The idea of letting staff pick who they wish to spend time with at the event seemed novel to him and it peaked his interest to see who would choose him. He hoped it was someone amusing. After the announcement, Hiro frowned. Which was Redmond? Had he met him? He couldn't recall but it didn’t matter. He grabbed a fresh glass of champagne and set off the find his companion for the next two hours. After only a moment’s worth of searching and asking someone to point the gentleman out Hiro approached the other an interested smile on his lips. “So you’re Red? I can see why.” he laughed lightly and held out an arm to the staff member. “Well then shall we? I’m interested to know what you would like to do this evening. I hope it's something fun.”

“So, in here, we follow commands from snobbish rich boys and do what they ask? Sounds like a challenge, exactly what I am here for.” Onyx gaze averted from the window, stilling on the figurine besides him. “Are you one of them or like me ? I don’t judge a book by its cover.” How many days had it been? 2? And, he hadn’t even bothered to explore and memorize each and every crevice, turn and hallway during the hours he had wasted. They call him Riot and he truly was one.Â
“One of them,” Hiro said, his grin manic. He had taken one look at the other and had been impressed with his good looked but when he opened his mouth, Hiro knew, he simply knew, this one would be so much fun. He was already excited to continue this conversation. “And yes. You do have to do everything we say. Surely you can’t fault that? After all with what you’re paid, you should consider yourself lucky.”
