  she fully realizes he could shoot HIGHER than   chief of staff if he so wishes - far higher. and so   she puts on her best  c h a r m i n g  smile, long   since perfected, and does her best to ease him   into her world. today, it’s susan ross and hollis   doyle - no brainer competitors (most of the time).   in four years? if he so chooses, things could get   much more interesting.

        his brows raise. she was great at this. not to mention, she checked all the boxes for a political win: female, white, intelligent and having experienced the loss of a child ––– all when used deftly would guarantee her great sympathy with the american people. top it off with beauty and charm ––– a win on all fronts. maybe it was something to be considered. getting her to the presidency, helping her. it would be a chance to test his political mettle on the highest level, and perhaps in eight years –––––

It had been years but there was a still a part of him, would always be Cassian had come to accept, that would never be completely comfortable with all this respect that he had now. It had been his duty, that was all, the same work he’d always done before it just on a much– larger scale. People had been grateful for his work but never really for him, not really. He had been a spy, a dealer of death in a way a soldier never would be, so this whole business of being a– a hero never sat fully comfortable on his shoulders.

“Thank you General Calrissian” he said finally, fingers tapping a little against the head of his cane, “I– thank you.” It was hardly the best response but what other one was there to give?

                ❝ a modest man. well, i daresay you’re a better one than i am on that front. and please, call me lando.❞ he nodded, his fingers fold together behind his back as he addressed him. in truth, he had much respect for the man before him, the horrors that he had seen surely outweighed his in spades. sometimes, he wondered why the rebellion would pass on the chance to let him achieve greater heights.  ❝ i’ve read your file, you’ve done incredible work on every front upon your missions, and that is why i have come to you today. see, i think i have a mission that i think you can help me with. ❞

“ I’m sure it will, ” she replies, an amused grin on her lips at the grandiosely suave mannerisms of the younger man. ( She’d expect nothing less from Lando Calrissian – nor would she have expected him to name his place anything other than Lando Land. It’s laughable, but bold, self-confident, and she can respect that. )  “ I’ve heard good things about ‘Lando Land,’ ” she tells him, before adding a casual “ And how’s the security? ”

     one hand came up to his chest as he dipped in a small bow, obviously pleased and glad to share in her amusement. the name is a dramatic, self-appeasing touch, and he’s never been one for subtlety. not to mention, he gets a little kick out of watching guests fall over themselves trying to proclaim how wonderful the name was. not siri tachi, though; he respects that.. 

        he does pause at her next question in turn, a finger raising to gesture in her direction.  ❝  ah, ah, ah. what did you have in mind? and security is excellent, thank you very much. it’s hard to swindle the swindler, after all.  ❞

     ❛  so i’ve been told. first order chic …. i like that one. i do.  ❜  limbs fold over one another , brow beginning its ascent along alabaster. finn. why do you continue to fight for those who don’t wish to be saved ? YOU’LL ONLY HURT YOURSELF  —–  its what she wants to tell the former trooper. what she HAS to tell him before what little light was left is engulfed completely by the darkness. she leans back in her seat , look of disinterest slowly shifting to that of the mildly annoyed.   ❛  did he put you up to this … whatever this is ? or was he too ashamed to come himself.  ❜

     so he did strike a nerve there; it certainly shattered some of that impenetrable facade she quite valiantly put on ––– like a child dressed in the clothes of an adult. but underestimating her would certainly lead to more problems. years of sabacc had certainly gifted him with the best inscrutable face, however, and he relaxed, arms drifting to his sides.  ❝  no, finn? he’s still recovering from the battle on starkiller base, but what little time he’s awake, he does talk about you. ❞ his lips twist into a shade of mournfulness.   ❝ it’s hard to tell if he’ll recover fully. those lightsaber wounds are often so unpredictable, after all. ❞ 

Cute but also I really like the thought of Finn escaping the First Order’s austerity and falling immediately into decadence
