Surrealist artist Salvador Dalí would have turned 112 years old today. The unorthodox and psychedelic artist was born on May 11, 1904 in  Figueres, Spain.

A controversial eccentric, Dalí was confident of his skill and artistry. He considered himself the greatest artist of his time. Responsible for the past century’s most influential pieces of work, which include the Persistence of Memory (1931). His sublime dreamscapes have created a permanent space in history, which will infinitely inspire contemporary artists. Dali’s persona, thoughts and paintings spoke to the unconscious and our inner perversions and interests, which is what makes him magnetic.
