"You think so?" Having been forced onto a lunch break by his mom, Scott now sat with Amy in the sun, stretched out on the bench. They'd been playing catch up when she brought up the town. Ironically, Scott hadn't really ever had the time to ponder the idea, too busy playing catch up in the infirmary and for the council. Still stuck in survival mode, not once had he taken a moment to consider the longevity of the situation, whether or not this place was going to be their forever place. But now that she'd mentioned it, it made sense. What else were they all working toward, if not setting down roots? Rebuilding had to have an end goal. "It's definitely different having vampires in charge," he joked, though the formation of the council alone put this town miles ahead of any other place they'd tried to set up. This time, they actually had agency.
Deciding he agreed, Scott nodded, squinting over at her, the sun affecting his sensitive, tired eyes. "I think you're right. There's a lot to do but... we'll do it." He reached out to squeeze her arm, knowing he should get back soon whether Melissa liked it or not. "You promise me you're alright?"
"Yeah, I've been trying to avoid thinking about that," Amy admitted with a laugh, knowing Scott was familiar with her distaste for vampires. A certain one, especially. "As if having one Original bloodsucker around isn't bad enough. But I should be able to avoid them. Hopefully." It wasn't as if she was planning to attend council meetings anyway, so her only real interactions would be with Caroline or Stefan, both of whom had committed to an 'animal' diet, proving themselves better than their supernatural ancestors.
“Better now,” Amy replied, placing her hand gently over his own. She hoped everything would change now they were all finally together again. “And you? How are you doing?” She raised her eyebrows, as if to suggest something about Scott’s developing relationship with another member of his pack.
