"I did warn you this was going to hurt." Tossing the alcohol wipe straight into the garbage, he reached over and grabbed a bandage from the side before placing it on Cordie's back shoulder. "There we go. I recommend changing the bandage by tomorrow afternoon. For now, keep the bandage on and make sure to stay away from water. That includes showers and baths."

“Yeah, yeah. A little spar never killed anyone, you know.” He quipped back with a playful sneer, casually flexing his arms to test how much he could move them without dislodging the bandages on his back. There was a certain practiced ease about that gesture, as if he’s so used to pushing through injuries that it comes across as second nature to him. “But I knooow, I’ll take really good care of myself. Doctor’s orders and all that.”

Being Mauville residents and having connections to the Pokémon League, it was only a matter of time until Wyatt and Cordie met. That being said, instead of a nice chat about cosplay or a doctor’s appointment, it seems they actually met up for the purpose of duking it out in a good old-fashioned brawl.

It was Cordie’s suggestion, as a way to break the ice, and oddly it seems to have worked…? The young man standing before Wyatt, usually a very timid fellow, was now absolutely brimming with confidence… almost like a different person. It was the same thing every time they fought, the difference in temperament before and after was palpable.

“Nah, I’m good. Pretty sure you already gave me the same instructions, like, 5 times before.” After all, as Wyatt himself had stated, those sparring sessions had become part of their usual routine. “But look at you, saying it again and again, being all responsible!”

Sigh, well, there was probably no way for Koko to fix that. It was something between Coride and Norman after all.

"Apparently, both being part of the league isn't something they have in common," Koko muttered. Sure, it was their jobs, but they had those jobs for a reason. Although watch as Cordie makes some sort of insane excuse for that, not counting.

"That's not what I mean, and you know that Cordie."

Although there was always a chance that Cordie was just that dumb. After all, they were in this situation in the first place.

"Why do you have this grudge. Most people just don't wake up and decide to hate someone, and certainly not hate them for all that they stand for. That takes quite a while to fester. Come out with it."

“You know, Mr. Koh, I’ve given you chance after chance to just agree to disagree and move on with this conversation.” This time, his tone is more direct than usual, without his usual mumbling, clearly conveying that he's running out of patience. Looks like he figured that, since remaining on the defensive and actually trying to answer the older man’s questions has been a waste of his time so far, he might as well say what’s actually on his mind. “Forgive me if I’m being rude, but…”

“Are you trying to get me to say something that’s gonna hurt your feelings? Is that a hot new trend I wasn’t aware of? I told you already that we’re not gonna see eye to eye on this topic and it’s best not to continue, and you agreed with me not even ten minutes ago, but here you are again asking to be offended.”

Despite his bitter choice of words, Cordie’s not quite angry just yet. He sounds impatient, sure, but his deliberately slow speech pattern and use of repetitive statements make it seem more like he’s talking to a really dim-witted child who can’t seem to get a clue.

He's definitely no longer stumbling over his own words anymore, though. Look at him go!

“If you absolutely have to know, I met him way before he started dating my brother, and he made a horrible first impression. I dunno why it’s so surprising that a gym leader, someone whose job is to be the league’s attack dog, could possibly be disrespectful to someone he doesn’t have to impress.”

“What's next, you're gonna tell me that you know more about the Hoenn League than I do? I'm being very patient here, but this is getting ridiculous.”
