literally had someone say to my face characters that I consider part of the main cast barely exist and I'm just. on my knees begging some people to understand two things.

1. this is not your average shounen where the Main Trio are center stage for the whole thing. The secondary characters are so important and have multiple repeat appearances.

2. maybe YOU just aren't interested enough in the characters to see how often they're present. that's not satoru nii's fault.

Like no the answer isn’t take all of these kids from their home and place them in a (from what we’ve seen) homogeneous Japanese small town

Two things can be true at once

Suo deserves to have the freedom to be a kid and go to school and not have all of this weight on his back while also protecting HIS town and home

AND

These kids deserve to build relationships and stay in their own community

Just because Suo wants to go out and be a part of other communities does not mean we should just strip these people and especially these children of their own

You liked Sam just fine while you could perceive him as nothing more than a white man's sidekick. now that he finally gets to be in a strong lead and he's the same witty, snarky character with the same morals, the same calm demeanor, the same presence, the same tactical mindset, but with MORE to him than one liners and being "the sidekick"... you mysteriously don't like him anymore.

truly, how weird. how strange.

The funny thing is that Mackie works with the writers to keep Sam CONSISTENT. meaning unlike some other characters whose values and sometimes even character traits fluctuate from project to project, Sam has a consistency that we don't see in all other characters. but that also means the arguments that he's "boring now" are nonsense. he's the same he was before - he just got more three dimensional, gets to express more emotions, gets to develop other relationships. with peope who aren't white.

and suddenly you find him boring?

We only know what the characters have told us about Red Chanpuru, and from what we’ve been told they’re a much older and strongly bonded organization with similar goals as Furin.

AND weve been told this by outsiders, people who have never experienced this organization personally who probably have heard misconceptions and rumors and so that’s the entirety of what they know! Most of them didn’t even know this organization existed!

I understand wanting angst and the easiest way to get that is through “Red Chanpuru bad and evil” but I NEEED you to think critically about that because this is the FIRST diverse group we’ve come across, PLEASE use your brain for 5 seconds and think about how harmful it is to say that the first group we have with diversity is abusing this teenager.

Now this doesn’t mean you can’t criticize them or talk about how Suo being connected to them is inappropriate. Suo is still a child and the fact that he has to go back and forth between this town on a 4 hour commute daily to a school he has then been made to drop out of (either by his own, or another persons decision) is wrong, but also we can’t even imply that he was forced to do it because WE DONT KNOW!

We can talk about how they probably have strict outdated rules without making them out to be an evil organization.

Things need to change, yes, but things also needed to change with Shishitoren and Noroshi and now they’re amazing allies which we don’t villainize because we heard them out!

I am just tired of people acting like this organization is evil and malicious when we know so little and to imply that Suo’s mask is something that was beat into him by Red Chanpuru when we don’t know that is just frustrating.

She's fat and gets the guy and no one bats an eye.

She's fat and the hottest chick in the sorority and that's normal.

She's fat and an actress and she gets good roles.

She's fat and she's funny and she has character depth and growth.

She's fat and the main character and no one mentions her weight once.

Whew. This fandom is so Bucky centered that y’all watched him follow Sam around for an entire show and a movie cameo and still managed to come to the conclusion that Sam is obsessed with him, and yet you don’t feel ridiculous or dishonest at all?
