It’s been nine years since your death. I watched you step into the maze. I kissed you goodbye and held your trembling hands. “Comeback as my winner” I said. But when I saw you again, you were a cold body.

Your father cried in my arms as they carried you away. That evening, he and I sat side by side silently watching the water at the lake. “He wanted to marry you” he said. It was a dagger to my heart.

Was I a traitor for dating your competitor? He was handsome, popular and brooding. I could see the tiredness in his eyes when I talked about you. You were always on my mind. I nearly wished you haunted me.

Be at peace. I will go on with my life. I will find a nice guy to be with. When I’m old and grey I will join you in death, then we will resume our love story.
