Itâs been a while since Iâve been active on Tumblr. At the end of September, I was diagnosed with a severe case of vestibular vertigo. This is a type of dizziness that comes from a problem in the vestibular systemâthe part of the inner ear that controls balance and spatial awareness. Since then, Iâve been pretty confined to my apartment, as itâs challenging to walk more than a few blocks without getting dizzy or feeling like Iâm on a rocking boat. There was one point when I couldn't even watch TV.
Iâve been in physical therapy since early October, and while Iâve made progress, Iâm still out of work.
Iâve been caught in the rough waters of waiting for short-term disability to come through while still needing to pay bills, attend weekly PT sessions, and multiple doctorâs appointments. On top of that, I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea, which has been incredibly frustrating. (I use to control this by side-sleeping but it no longer works for me)
Iâm reluctant to post this, but I really need financial help. I havenât been paid in six weeks, and with a high-deductible insurance plan, Iâm literally paying hundreds of dollars in medical bills every couple of weeks. The CPAP machine alone costs is insane. Friends give me rides when they can, but I often have to rely on Uber to get to appointments. Iâm burning through money quickly, and before I hit an empty well, I thought Iâd put my hat out.
I always thought I was prepared for disaster, but after six weeks, itâs become a very scary reality that weâre all just one step away from catastrophe in our current healthcare system.
If I had family I could ask for help, I would, but my sister lives paycheck to paycheck.
If youâre able to spare something,
If you canât, no worries. Maybe you could reblog this instead.
Thank you,
Kristen
