I Want to Break Free

Once there was a dreamer who wanted to be a creative professional. That dreamer was me and I had made a choice to not pursue what I was more passionate about but instead opted for retail management for its stability and job security.
Every day, I go to work and go through the same routine. Every two weeks, I have work on a Saturday and miss out on time with my friends and family. Every year, I miss out on some holidays. Every day there is constant change at work but one thing is consistent in the changes: our creative touch is slowly fading away as processes are being streamlined. Every day feels like a Monday. The discussion is not on Growth but on “efficiencies.” We are expected to solve problems but with a couple restrictions to sprinkle on top of it. I have been in this industry for almost 10 years and each year my enthusiasm is slowly chipped away.
Until one day I have realized that I am slowly being assimilated into this giant machine; I decided to take action and not be trapped in an endless loop of unfulfilling work. Because of that, I have decided to enroll into Udacity’s Digital Marketing Nanodegree Program.
Ever since enrolling, life has been a lot busier as I seek to balance between working my weekly 47 hours and also completing the necessary coursework and projects for my Nanodegree. Despite being busier at the moment, I am happier because I am developing and improving myself.
