Posts being flagged as sensitive content and how to fix it
A ton of posts are now being flagged as sensitive content thanks to Tumblrās new idea to make it adult content free. However, you can request a review so they can fix it. I know itās tiring, and I know itās not our fault that Tumblr canāt do a simple thing right, but I refuse to have any of my SFW creations being taken down just because Tumblr doesnāt know how to write an algorithm.
So hereās what you can do, even if you arenāt the OP.
Any post that has been flagged will show something like the image below at the top of the post, even if itās a reblog.
If youāre the OP, a REVIEW link will show up at the right margin of the red bar where it saysĀ āYour post was flaggedā. Click on it, and then click REQUEST REVIEW, like the image below.
After youāll get a message in an orange bar sayingĀ āYour post is in content appealā, meaning theyāre evaluating whether their algorithm screwed up or not. If it was wrongfully marked as sensitive (and it most likely was), youāll get an email being alerted to that your post is now visible to everyone again.
Alternatively, if you arenāt the OP, but your reblogs are flagged as well, (which in this case, youāll see something like the image below in your flagged reblog), you can message the OP about it so they can request a review.
Please, donāt ignore this! Itās bad enough that adult content is being deleted because Tumblr canāt deal with p*rn bots, but having content that has absolutely nothing to with adult content being deleted as well can be fixed, even if weāre the ones who have to ask for said fix.
Iāve seen a lot of comments on this, and I just wanna clarify a few things.
If youāre gonna message the OP about a flagged post, please, please, specify which post has been flagged.Ā Most blogs have hundreds or thousands of posts, which makes it impossible to know which one youāre referring to exactly. We appreciate all the help we can get, but it will be for nothing if we donāt know what youāre talking about. Something like āHey! Just letting you know the post with the link /post/123456789012 has been flagged.ā is more than enough.
Iāve seen a few people complaining that this doesnāt work. I canāt vouch for every case, but it has beenĀ working for me and I know it has been working for other people, too. Iāve been doing this since āmarked as sensitiveā posts began way before this new Tumblr policy, and Iāve never had a problem with it. If your account e-mail is up to date and youāre getting some e-mails from Tumblr (you can check this by going to Settings and then clicking on the Notifications tab on the right sidebar), you should get an e-mail (or several, if you have made several review requests). I already got at least 15 e-mails since last night saying my posts are visible to everyone and apologizing for the inconvenience.
If youāre having issues with this method, I suggest you try to contact support. Use this linkĀ and after you click on it, a right sidebar will show up, where you can address your situation. Just make sure youāre clear about the it, instead of saying something likeĀ āHey, I canāt take request a review on this post, help.ā Thatās not good, considering contact support will usually give you an actual response, instead of an automated e-mail response, and they might ignore your request instead of helping.
If you have any other questions, my ask box is open.
