In the long run, one of the biggest breakthroughs the world will see in exponential technology is the ability it will have in personalization. A.I advancement will leapfrog entire industries simultaneously, thrusting us into an entirely new age; as dramatic as the shift from steam power to electricity changed modern society at every level-from the divide in wealth to the quality of living standards and healthcare. With each major new change; a domino effect is induced in society that changes it forever.A.I will contribute to personalized healthcare, personalized products tailored to our specific needs, a faster education system and, a dramatic step further, the human necessity for our brains to go digital—Lantern Exponential is committed to preparing society for this change. What Industries will Be Affected by A.I?I’ll only cover three of the most important and the most likely to change in this current decade. Marketing Although this industry doesn’t seem to have direct connotations to social entrepreneurship; marketing will experience one of the biggest shifts in the world. Every industry relies on marketing of some kind to get the word about their product out to the world. It’s the backbone of wealth creation and capitalism in the developed world. Capitalism in and of itself is a system developed by humans to help us get ahead in the world materialistically. Paying attention to changes in marketing will help prepare the next gen entrepreneur’s ventures and efforts better and faster than ever before.Right now, pop-up ads and media feeds in our browsers and social media accounts are filled with adverts and subject matter tailored to our interests based on our frequent searches and online behavior—our digital existence. In this age, that’s only one half of our living personas. Marketing doesn’t have direct access to our private lives outside of the digital world. But how long will it be until we all have personalized home A.I assistants in our households that are able to read our mood and interests day to day? (if this seems unfathomable, follow OpenAI’s research in democratizing A.I). Home assistant A.I will have access to us offline; seeing and recording our behaviors and understanding our preferences in our private lives that we show offline. With the merger of our online and offline behavior taken into consideration; marketers will be able to make products tailored specifically to us-the individual. We’ll be able to receive the same app and product everyone else is buying with a few added customizations tailored to our own unique psychological preferences—anything from data gathered about our favorite color to our favorite time of the day to our possible disabilities and interface preferences. The current marketing model archetype of the customer will change forever. The very field of market research will be altered, if not faded out.Imagine living in a world where online A.I avatars based on your specific target audience could be generated in minutes for you to test your product on instead of having to go out and gain real market data? It’s possibly the birth of an entirely new industry. Education This is another obvious one and my favorite industry by far.A.I will soon be able to personalize our education to suit our direct and specific needs and learning styles; especially those of our children. With A.I, each and every child can have access to a personalized teacher that’s tailored to their aptitude and abilities. We will see the end of the grading system as education will be accelerated exponentially because of the personalized approach. In the coming decade, it’s not hard to imagine a future classroom becoming a place for children to only gain social skills by interacting with their peers as each and every learning session becomes a single button away. The role of the teacher will shift to an oversight role in classes. Teachers would have to gain a new set of skills in understanding the new technology they’ll be paired with in the classrooms. A.I also has the potential to democratize higher education; coupled with the popularity of Massive Open Online Courses, A.I will be able to better supplement the learning experience through personalization. And because of the world’s direction moving toward the rise of leadership and solution orientated people; titles that come with certificates won’t matter as much as the ability for a candidate to be able to produce proven results. The job market is changing dramatically—anyone with access to the internet that has developed the right amount of skill won’t find it hard to make a living out of the biggest country in the world—the internet. Healthcare A.I will contribute to the personalized healthcare experience; from programmable nanomachines that administer internal drug therapy when we need it, to A.I doctoring that’s directly customized to suit our direct personalities. With healthcare research data moving toward cloud computing, A.I in analytics will contribute to supplementing medical research, speeding up the ability for the healthcare community to come up with cures to various world diseases and control global health pandemics. Although A.I in healthcare has various implications in the many subcategories which is best saved for a larger article.Author note: to understand the impact A.I will have in healthcare, read this article about a UK healthcare startup babylon that will use A.I to personalize the healthcare needs of its customers. It scored the largest series A funding round in Europe this year. Read the article here to get a better grasp of A.I's influence in future health. The Three PillarsThese three pillars will greatly feel the effects of the rise in artificial intelligence; which is why the understanding of A.I should be a personal and social responsibility to yourself. You need to know what’s happening in the world of artificial intelligence development and the impact it will have on your life. It’s true that not all of us are interested in the technology from a scientific perspective, but another reason to get involved in understanding A.I stems from the massive impact it will have on all our lives.Right now, A.I is integrated into commercial devices, but at this point in time, it’s a commercial gimmick more than anything else—it can do what we already know how to do, just better. But it’s showing signs of its ability to directly impact society and address its needs; a perfect example of this is Tesla Motors’ Autopilot feature reducing the overall chance of road mortalities. Not only this, but we can soon see a potential future where A.I has evolved so dramatically that androids become a part of everyday life; in effect a group of citizens in society with rights and human privilege.AlysonAuthor note: one of the most fascinating research projects in A.I is Baby-X. A cute baby, born of artificial intelligence, that behaves exactly like a child. Now, you might think this concept might frighten you, but after seeing it for yourself, it's almost certain to move you--at least, the innovation in this technology brought me to close to tears, but then again, I am a romantic about technology.
