Meeting Jocelyn had, most likely, been the best thing that could have happened to him. She had given him a new sense of calm but at the same time she had awoken his more playful nature. Truly, it was as if he was a different person when he was around her. Naturally they made the most perfect match; Aemon could not have asked for a better wife.

He found her outside, a book in her lap. Perhaps she was reading it, perhaps the words on the pages were of no interest. Truthfully, Aemon did not care in this moment; not when there was a singular flower hidden behind his back as he approached her. His step was quiet but he would not be surprised if she already noticed him. It seemed like they were so attuned to each other that it was easy to tell when the other was nearby. Instead of announcing his presence with words, he presented the flower to her while standing behind her.

"As beautiful as this flower is, it pales in comparison to you." And yet he gifted it to her. A moment later, Aemon sat beside his wife, watching her, gaze adoring. "One might think you are hiding from your husband."

It had been a week since sweet Aemma had arrived at the Red Keep and while she had not spent a lot of time with the girl yet, she was aware that she was fairly introverted. Of course it must have been hard for the girl to leave home like this, to come live in a place so grand and foreign. How sorry she felt for her.

She finds her early one day, visiting her in her chambers. The girl was seated by the window and for a moment Alyssa wondered she was longing for home. "Have you broken your fast yet, Aemma?" She hoped she did for the day she had planned for them required her to have some energy. The Keep could be triste for a girl and Alyssa intended to show her that this new home wasn't so bad.

Wine was shared with his son as they sat outside the tent. Most of their conversations were tactical discussions, but on a rare evening like this, the conversations turned more personal. Philippe had lived a long life before he even met Baldwin, there was a lot he could teach the younger man.

@montclairbaldwin : “do you ever worry about the kind of person you're becoming?”

In a way, he had been expecting the question and yet it came with a bit of surprise. It did not show on his face, though. Philippe always held his emotions heavily guarded, even around his family. The only person who got to see more of his emotional world was his wife. But now, even if just for a brief moment, he was going to open up a bit more.

"I used to, in the beginning. As a mortal, I was seen as one of the gods, and I started to believe it. It was a rather humbling experience to die." He could chuckle about it now but centuries ago it had been a cause of frustration. "When I was turned I did not know what to make of it at first. My maker explained this new life to me, she was rather thorough. An immortal life... it sounded just like what I had thought to be throughout my mortal life. I was worried what would become of me this time." He took a sip of his wine, a thoughtful pause following.
