It is a question you can’t help but ask

As we continue to grow closer and closer

Like pentunias and pentas

But with these annuals,

Attracts both bees and butterflies

And you always seemed to attract the bees

Who continuously stab you with their stingers

Causing you immense pain that forever lingers

Are you real?

You keep asking because

Why would I be infatuated with you,

When everyone else loathes you

Why would I have for a yearning towards you,

When everyone else had no desire for you

It confuses me

Not because of my feeling towards you

But because of others towards you

Which makes me ask you

Are you real

Because when I look at you

I see your beautiful eyes — the mirror to the soul

Which holds an ungodly amount of anguish

But beneath it,I see the pine trees of the forest

Fresh leaves that just have begun to bloom in the spring

Symbolising the freshness and vitality of your life

Are you real

Because when I look at you

I see the pink and pouty lips

Wanting to trace my baby finger along the sweet outline where skin met mouth

Gasping, lips parting and beckoning me forward

With nothing but sweet whispers that escape

Sweet just like her

So again, like a plague that now spreads to me
