Meanwhile Hades is in the background “????? UM??? PRETTY GIRL??? WHY ARE YOU HERE?????? YOU AREN’T DEAD???” 

And Persephone (who was originally called Kore just a little fyi) just looked at him and said “I like it here. I’m staying.”

And Hades kinda just went with it, until Demeter started throwing the temper tantrum of the millenium upstairs and Zeus had to intervene because this shit was getting out of hand and its actually his job to be admistrator of justice. Which considering the shit he gets up to is kinda histerical but that’s another story there. 

And basically Persephone wasn’t a prisoner or kidnap victim at all she just really loved the Underworld and her (eventual) husband, and the Greeks feared her arguably more than her husband because Hades could be reasoned with but Persephone was the one laying the smack down on sinners, and really, who wouldn’t be at least a little scared of someone who’s name means something along the lines of “the destroyer”

Persephone is literally one of my favorite goddesses because of this version

Summary: Bucky and the reader share a nightmare then Loki tries (and succeeds) to get under Bucky’s skin. Warnings: murder, death, torture, nightmares

You grabbed the man and covered his mouth with your gloved hand. He flailed his limbs rabidly, desperately kicking backwards in a futile attempt to escape you hold. Even the strongest of men would have struggled against your enhanced strength. He, a thin man barely capable of carrying his own briefcase, stood no chance. His panicked breaths soon slowed to nothing and his eyes flickered shut. The man went limp but you didn’t release your hold. 

    “He’s dead,” your partner stated, returning from his survey the hallway and adjacent rooms for witnesses. His dark eyes narrowed when you finally set the body on the ground. His pistol was still sheathed but the Soldier’s usually steady fingers twitched, ready to act when your mistake inevitably backfired on the mission. “You were meant to keep him alive.”

    “He doesn’t need to be breathing for this to work. The brain keeps working for a few minutes after death. I can get what I need.” You crouched down and touched his temple, his skin still warm. A jolt of power flowed through you, setting your nerves alight. The images came to you clearly but became increasingly blurred as the activity in his brain slowed to nothing. 

Reading the memories of a dead man left you feeling a little off kilter. Cold shivers ran down your spine as you pulled back, the disconnect you felt with the world growing even stronger. It was a struggle to shake away the darkness - for that was all you’d seen; there was no bright light taking him away, there was only emptiness.
