"Rowena watched him. The way his jaw ticked. The anger threaded through every muscle."

Writing these two is constantly straddling the line between “we have feelings for each other” and “how can I get a reaction out of you?”

And unfortunately for everyone involved, those are often the exact same thing.

“Way to be optimistic, Fangs,” Karlach groaned.

He shrugged, unbothered. Mostly. “I simply have learned to lower my expectations.”

Shadowheart snorted. “You? Lower your expectations?”

He frowned. Clearly offended. “Of people’s wit? Absolutely.”

Rowena snorted, eyes flicking to meet his. “Astarion…you’re not helping.”

He sighed again. All dramatics. “Forgive me for being bored. It’s not as if the scenery is particularly stimulating.”

"A vicious pair, if I do say so myself."
