The Kelpies - World’s Largest Pair of Equine Sculptures!

Standing 30 metres (100ft) tall, The Kelpies stand majestically above all around them and pay homage to the working horses of Scotland which used to pull barges along Scotland’s canals and worked in the fields in the area where they now stand.

Towering over a new canal extension which links the Forth & Clyde Canal to the North Sea, The Kelpies are the result of a unique collaboration between the partners and Glasgow-based artist Andy Scott. Almost a decade in the making, the project has transformed 350 hectares of underused land between Falkirk and Grangemouth into a vibrant parkland, visitor attraction and marine hub with the canal and The Kelpies at its heart.

Reimagined Scrap Metal Sculptures - by John Lopez

John Lopez, a successful artist residing in South Dakota, creates unbelievable sculptures from scrap metal. Pieces of old farm machinery and equipment, musical instruments, chains and many other old metal objects found their way into Lopez’s huge rusty Western-themed animal sculptures, which include life-sized buffaloes and horses.

“My favorite part about these pieces is the texture,” explains Lopez. “I just start grabbin’ stuff from the pile and welding it, and if you weld enough of the same thing on over and over it creates this really cool texture that I’ve never seen in these kinds of pieces before. And I think that’s what draws people in.”

Waterfall on the Audi R8 | Digital Waterfalls with Projection Mapping

Nature is a beautiful thing, and it turns out, you can get a piece of it with teamLab’s amazing waterfall projection mapping installations. The Japanese Studio designed a series of wonderful exhibits showcasing digitally projection mapped waterfalls. For the video of their installation "Waterfall on the Audi R8" click here.

Their most recent installation, entitled Universe of Water Particles Under Satellite’s Gravity is a combination of a giant model of the ALOS-2 satellite and a breathtaking waterfall simulation rendered in unbelievable detail. teamLab uses their own custom tuned physics engine to simulate thousands of water droplets falling and interacting with each other before reaching the satellite and evaporating away. According to teamLab, only 0.1% of the water particles from the simulation are selected and rendered with lines drawn between particles and the satellite. In their own words:

“In traditional Japanese painting, oceans, rivers and bodies of water are expressed as a curvilinear series of lines. These lines give the impression of life, as though water itself were a living creature.”

The mesmerizing piece is featured at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo.
