Can we talk about the fact that SSAIC Aaron Hotchner, who teaches crisis negotiation and co-authored the textbook, gets so distressed listening to Emily being beaten up in Minimal Loss that he wants to fuck all protocols and go bursting in there to save her. Listening to her in pain literally makes him forget everything else. He can’t focus on the fact that entering the hostage situation so early would endanger so many lives. He can’t focus on the whole concept of minimal loss. All he can zero in on is Emily in pain, Emily in danger and his need to get her out ASAP.

He forgets he’s an agent and is reduced to simply being a man anguishing over listening to someone he loves going through excruciating pain.
