The cancer I donât have is everywhere now
Fight Club, Chuck Palahniuk, 1996 (via san-1ty)
[ Off to bed! I'll return at some point tomorrow~ ]
âPeople are blinded cattle following a system they donât understand, but lookinâ at you, I donât think youâre one of âem.â A smile, Tyler taps the cigarette to rid it off the ashes, before taking a drag; âRather reassuring to see that some people donât have their eyes covered by useless media and corporate brands, bogged down in worries over bills and getting the latest technology. Buying things they donât need with the money they donât have. Hell, I donât even think youâd need the club. Youâre not boring, not repressed like the others are. Youâre not a copy of a copy of a copy. I donât even need to talk to you.â He leaned forwards slightly, and gave him a smile, âBut I am anyway. Unless you walk away and make me look like an idiot.â He shrugged, and leaned back again, âWouldnât be the first time. But the best thing about being free, is not having the responsibility to be somewhere, not caring whether you get into trouble or not. So if you walk away now, at least I know that youâre a douche-bag.â
At least heâll know youâre a douche-bag? What the hell? Who the hell is this guy and why is he suddenly spouting philosophical shit at you? And whatâs this club about? Donât just stand there! Do something! I want answers and I want them now!
Beyond winced briefly, the sudden force of the voice provoking a dull throbbing in his frontal lobe. There really appeared to be no end to this madness but there were questions to be answered and people to get bored of. âI think Iâll prove to be a douche-bag even without walking away from you, mate. Now, what makes you think you can take one look at me and know everything about me and what the hell are you talking about?â He decided he didnât need to know that he technically was made to be a copy⌠even if it didnât turn out that way. There were more important things at hand here.
A chuckle escaped; he couldn't help it. His mind was full of crap about the economy and how no one was important; about all the physiological bullshit that he had grown so tired of over the years. When those thoughts escaped to ears that weren't expecting it, the reactions to those few was quite amusing. If not pitiful.
âI take one look at every passerby and every time I see the same old shit; how much of a robotic slave they are to the system; to the fucked up society they call a home. After a while it's easy to tell the difference between the people who are free and the people who live in an illusion. You, my friend, are one of the free ones.â
âAs for what I'm talking about, I may as well call you a stupid douche-bag if you haven't figured it out already. Society, the dipshits people look up to. I said before I didn't need to talk to you; it doesn't really apply to you. The only reason why I am, is because I'm interested! Who wouldn't be? I'm curious, why aren't you a robotic slave who works from 9 till 5 in a corporate building doing mundane shit that people call 'making a living'?â
Tyler rose an eyebrow, and tilted his head slightly. Ran over by a car before? Well, this should be a gripping conversation. Although he wasnât entirely convinced over whether or not it was worth it. âInteresting answer. How about your view on the people who waste away their lives on dead end jobs to buy materialistic goods that they really donât need?â
"Idiotic. If you ask me, I just need the natural things a human needs and something to draw with. It would last me." Florence shrugged, flicking a small screw over Tylerâs head.
Tyler smiled, and jumped off the scaffolding, facing her properly. His eyes wandered to what she was doing, before taking a drag of the cigarette. âSo, you've been hit by a car before?â He rose an eyebrow, âYou think people are idiots for following the system put in place by rich bastards and you think people should instead look up to those who have changed people's lives. Almost perfect. But those people like J.K. Rolling and Mozart - they're all the same as us. Tell me, why should we give them our attention simply because they're made famous through the very system you claim to dislike? Hell, even Shakespeare, Marlowe, they were all famous back in the day, sure, but the only reason why their work survived to this very day is because of the people in charge; because they sent a message other than how shit the world was. My point is - they were people. Like you and me, following the same shitty system we all do, gaining money to buy things they don't need. They're nothing special. I think it's pointless to look up to those people; focusing on your life is what counts. Would've thought you'd recognise that after being hit by a car.â He gave her a pointed look, and held out the cigarette to her.

âYâknow when you get that sudden urge to jump in front of a moving train?â A pause. Tyler looked towards her, and smiles. Someone had finally listened to him. He bends down and sits on the wooden plank, looking down towards the other.
âHave you ever wondered what the reactions would be of the people around? The driver⌠the on-lookers, the passengers. How watching a person die in front of them would effect their outlook on life? And maybe - just maybe - out of the crowd, one of them would finally be able to open their eyes to see the truth of the world?â He held up a finger, âQuestion. What do you find worse? The fact that people are so gullible to follow after a selfish, arrogant politician or leader or movie star, do exactly what they say and fill their lives with what they want them to fill their lives with, or the politician, leader, or movie star themselves?â
"I dunno about a train but Iâve been run over by a car before." Sheâs distracted with a pair of broken scissors sheâs pulling apart that she found in her bag.
"The gullible people." She shouldnât be talking, she tries to model her own body to the size of child stars. "Because itâs like, find something besides people who only get fame due to pure luck and find somebody whoâs worth looking up to. Look up to J.K. Rowling or Mozart, somebody who changed lives."

alteregotylerdurden started following you
Itâs quiet, and strangely quiet if you ask him. Thereâs gotta be something going on. And as soon as heâs turned the corner to find a passed out Tyler Durden on the floor itâs a lot less eerie. âHey. Hey, Tyler.â A light tap of his foot against the taller manâs back. âThereâs some kid on the porch, you wanna wake up and tell me whatâs going on?â
A groan, and a slight turn to look at the other, before sighing heavily and getting up. He pulled a cigarette out of his pocket and stuck it in his mouth, before glancing towards the other and smirking slightly, lighting it. He then began to walk out of the room and in the direction of the door. â--Just some simple expansion, nothin' to worry about.â
//Phobia: I don't think Tyler would really have a great phobia but more so a hesitation to do something. And that hesitation would be to die. He'd not exactly afraid to die, but he's not so fearless that he'll do anything that could possibly kill him.
Send me a phobia you see my character having
âCorrectamundo. Gold star for the mun of the damaged immortal.â

âFuck off with your sofa units and string green stripe patterns, I say never be complete, I say stop being perfect, I say letâŚlets evolve, let the chips fall where they may.â

Listen up, maggots. You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. Youâre the same decaying organic matter as everything else.

âYou would think that after thousands and thousands of years of imagining, discovering, thinking, creatingâ that the human race could come up with something better than a clichĂŠ old story of how a man and a woman came to love each other. Or of how the next celebrity got their number one hit, or their child, or what boy theyâre going to date next.â He looked from the magazine, up towards the other, before taking a step forward, motioning to the next magazine on the store stand. âNow this one. Politics. A bunch of rich bastards who claim to millions of pounds each year while the rest of the country lives in poverty. Inconsiderate arseholes who complain daily about the state of the economy and donât do a thing about it.â Tyler looked back to him, and flashed him a smile. âSo which one do you believe is the most full of crap?â
Now, there was no clean cut answer to a question of this magnitudeâ- this was a question that reached down into you gut, and pulled out the truth. That, honestly, shocked Beau for a moment. He stood there, stunned, looking back at the stranger with furrowed eyebrows. But only for a moment, because next thing he knows, his mind is forming an answer. Which was worse? They both seemed pretty terrible to him. Heâd never had much of connection to the world today, anyhow; the news, the celebrities, the music, none of it. Nothing from the day he was born could touch him, it was only the objects of days past that he liked. Trinkets from his grandfatherâs day, stories brighter days where âWho wore it betterâ wasnât the most important question on the table.
But what can you do? The human race was evolving; whether or not they were evolving the right way was⌠To be determined. But times change, and people change, but there are always common themes between the then, and the now.   Â
"Probably the fat-cats on Capital Hill. The men whoâve deluded themselves into thinking what theyâre doing isnât just good for themselves, but helps others too. But really, if you ask me, their both terrible. People worship these stars like gods.â A pause, a breath, and then a shake of the head. âAt least some people know that itâs allâ- illusion.â
He found someone who replied to him? If that wasn't a miracle, he didn't know what was. He saw that he thought about it too. Of course, some others had the same look on their faces once he posed the question, but again, this one stayed. Curiosity took over; maybe he could have a decent conversation with this guy.
âNot a bad answer, man. Everyone else either takes longer or ignores me. Ain't very reassuring.â He offered a hand, and gave him a smile, âName's Tyler. So, do you usually think about how shitty the world is or have I just sparked your interest?â
