"Embrace Him"
Pencil drawing by Alson Castro
The time has come to abandon the fears, prejudices, and limitations of old spirituality.
Your pleasure awaits behind the moralistic wall that the religiosity of fear has placed in your path. Do not be afraid to embrace what you have been taught to condemn and hide.

"Dionysus and Ampelos"
Art by Alson Castro
Mixed media on paper
Original AVAILABLE
Little is said about Dionysus' homosexuality.
Ampelos, a young satyr, was one of the male lovers of the festive god of wine.
It was in homage to Ampelos, who died tragically, that wine emerged: after the satyr's tragic death, Dionysus transformed him into the first grapevine.
Here, the artist imagines this story a little differently: Ampelos is resurrected thanks to the new creativity that Dionysus achieves through the power of wine.

"The Resurrection of Hyacinth" (original SOLD - send message for prints)
Mixed media painting by Alson Castro
In Greek mythology, one of the lobers of the god Apollo is Hyacinth, a very handsome young prince. However, Zephyrus, god of the west winds, is also in love with Hyacinth and, in a fit of jealousy, causes the boy's death.
Apollo tries to revive his beloved with his lyre, but fails, and then transforms him into a violet flower, today called hyacinth.
In this artwork, Alson Castro reimagine the story: Zephyrus deeply regrets what he did and asks Apollo for forgiveness. From the union of the gods arises the magic necessary to revive young Hyacinth, and now they understand that they no longer need to fight over love, as they can have fun as a trio.
