I am a student of University of Perpetual Help Dalta - Molino Campus. You can call me Alrich, I am 17 years old. I am approachable and appreciative in every way, I love sceneries, landscapes, or just nature in general, specially at night. 🌃Night is just so beautiful when I’m happy, it also calms me when I’m stressed but can be lonesome when I am missing someone. It is also the time when my ideas come out, just the best time to study📖 and do my assignments. If there is free time I draw, make sketches, or even do digital art. I’m also a fan of music, though I am not good at it or even making it, I love listening to such talented people specially the local Filipino bands like Ben&ben. I occasionally play mobile games too, I really love playing multiplayer games that is trying your cooperation and strategic skills with your friends and family.

What is Media and Information Literacy? What is its significance, importance, or why does it matter?

           Media and information literacy or MIL for short is associated to access of information, free expression and education.  According to UNESCO’s definition of media and information literacy, is to allow individuals to become engaged citizens and responsible decision-makers. Today’s contemporary period we all are about technology and innovation to ease the everyday challenges of life. Through transportation, safety, health, and specially communication. Being media and information literate individual allows individual to access information that is necessary for everyday living, almost all that we want and need to learn can be accessed through media but being literate still need to be accounted for because one must have the ability to analyze and identify which is information is transparent on being truthful. As per the blog that I have read by Navarra, Charlotte Thea, the purpose of being an Information and Media Literate is to engage in a digital society where one needs to be able to use, understand, inquire, create, communicate and think critically. This states fact because It is just so important to have the capacity to effectively access, organize, evaluate, and create messages in a variety of forms. Particularly during this time of pandemic, MIL enables us to to interpret and make discernments on how everybody is doing by being users of media and information. As a student, MIL brings out to me exactly how complex media and information is, and how I can avoid being tricked by other information that is wrong or untrue.
