If you’re like me and have a crazy schedule that makes you go from 8 am to 5 pm every day as it is, then even longer during tech week, sometimes it’s ok to cut a couple things out. Skip a redundant class, leave a bit early, work 4 hours rather than 5 so you still get paid. Even an hour or so to rest or do important life things can be crucial.

I’ve also found that theatre professors are the most understanding. Many of them have been there, and even if they haven’t they work with students who do constantly. They understand how doing shows impacts your overall education for better and worse. So ask and you just might get an extension, an extra excused absence, even some explanation of course material through an email or something.

Doing theatre in college is a bitch, especially if you are dealing with personal issues and/or mental illness. Adjust your balance so you don’t run yourself ragged.
