Calling all artists!
We will soon be accepting submissions for AlphaBands, the latest weekly art challenge from Alphabet Press! Â If you love music and want to participate, please join us at this space every Monday beginning January 20th, 2014. Â
All ages are welcome, no experience is needed, no genre of music will be excluded, and one may take part in as many or as few weeks of the project as one wants. Â
More news will come as it develops.  Help us spread the word!  Get this bootleg out into the world!  Let’s get a monster lineup for the best concert ever! Â
Hi there! I participated in 'Alphabooks' blog and really had a fun time doing it. I'm curious to know when the next blog project is projected to be. Also, have you ever thought of doing a theme project based off of video/computer game characters? (It could be called 'Alphabytes' or alternately 'Alphabits'). I know a lot of artists tend to also be gamers, and I for one feel like this would be a great hit. :)
That's a brilliant idea, but we do have a project lined up for the new year-- we'll be announcing it soon! (We'll be sure to keep yours in mind though for next time!)
when/what is the new challenge?
We have a plan, but the date isn't decided yet. We'll post info soon!
Come meet some of your favorite Alphabot creators at spx next weekend!Â
Leigh Palmer Preiss, Sam Wolk and Isaac Cates will be at Table D8-9A!
Kelly Williams, Christian Sager and Henry Eudy will be at Table J10!
Bring the ruckus!

Realized I missed the letter "Q" so went back and did a QuispBot as a tribute to the awesome Jay Ward Studios.
Wanted to finish up AlphaBots and finally got the chance to do the last two letters. Here is "Y".
Y is for YogiBot a tribute to awesome Hanna Barbera character designer Ed Benedict.
And letter "Z".
Z is for ZotBot a tribute to Scott McCloud.
X, Y, Z! This is the end of #Alphabots!
X is for X-51, The Machine Man!
Y is for Yeti!
Z is for Zhora!
I started this project over 27 weeks ago and have finally finished my master “Challenge of The Alphabots" poster. Like all of my Alphabet projects, this was a learning experiment. So it’s far from perfect, but I’m very happy with what I learned about Manga Studio along the way. I’m looking forward to trying my hand at my own sequential stories with MS very soon!
A ‘Better late than never’ compilation of the last five Alphabots!!
VIRAL (Teenage mutant ninja turtles)
WHEATLY (Portal 2)
XR (Buzz Lightyear of Star Command)
YETI (Doctor Who 1967 ‘The Abominable Snowman)
ZAT (‘The Lost Machine’ by John Wyndham 1932)

Wow— the end of another Alphabet Project! Of course I still have a few stragglers to fill in, but I must say I’m happy to be (nearly) done with this one. Over the past six months I’ve certainly learned a lot about Adobe Illustrator,* but frankly I’ve lost much of my zeal for vector & robots, & I’m itching to get back to more organic artwork, both in subject matter & technique. I have a completely different & fun new series in my head & can’t wait to get started! I’m hoping to have my first piece up in the next week or two— stay tuned!
In the meantime, check out everybody’s AlphaBots from A to Z here!
*I just learned about the Distort/Roughen effect, which I used (twice) on a zig-zag path, to make the zap of electricity on this guy’s head look more convincingly random.

Probably the coolest not-so-famous robot from the amazing RoboRally board game.

Z is for Zane, by Sam Wolk, from the Lego "Ninjago" toy line.
W id for WARFORGED. #alphabots

I’m not sure what this bot is yearning for, but I’m yearning for more time to do all the things I need/want to do (including catching up on the missing AlphaBots)!
