YEAR’S END BALL

The teams behind Anime St. Louis and Can Town St. Louis are pleased to present the YEAR’S END BALL, a multi-fandom formal dance to close the convention season. Join us on November 22, 2014 at Collinsville’s Gateway Center for an evening of cosplay, music, and charity. Cosplay is highly encouraged, but not required. We do ask that you dress nicely, as this is a semi-formal event. We also want you to be comfortable! Guests may choose the option of a dinner with the dance, or just a dance ticket. Dinner is not required! You may purchase a dance-only ticket. However, the last day to pre-register for dinner is November 8th. At-door tickets will be for the dance only.

Archon 38 runs from October 3-5, 2014. Although Can Town St. Louis does not have a panel, several members of our leadership will be attending and would be happy to collect donations from you! This event is NOT being coordinated through Archon, so be sure to direct any questions to this page or cantownstlouis[AT]gmail[DOT]com.

The Collinsville Area Food Pantry has specifically requested transient bags for people who don’t have a stable living situation. If Can Town citizens each donate one bag, we could have a lot of food to bring to the food pantry. Every bit adds up!

The lists are available as a PDF if you want to print them out to take with you to a store. Remember to buy non-perishable items that don’t require refrigeration, with poptop lids that DON’T require a can opener. As always, thank you for your help!

Join CTSTL for a trip to the St. Louis Zoo during their Shark Week event! Dressing as a shark earns you free admission to Stingray Cove — bear in mind that for those 13+, the Zoo DOES NOT permit anything that covers or obscures your face, including face paint! Paintless trolls are welcome, particularly Eridan, Feferi, Cronus, and Meenah! Get creative! The Collinsville Area Food Pantry is in dire need of BAR SOAP and TOILET PAPER, as these items cannot be purchased with SNAP/food assistance. Monetary donations for the Collinsville Area Food Pantry or Random Acts will also be accepted. Happy GISHWHES! CTSTL leadership will be parked at the NORTH ENTRANCE (near The Living World) no later than 10:30AM and will collect donations to bring back to the car between 10:30AM and 11:00AM. PLEASE MEET AT THE NORTH ENTRANCE, OUTSIDE, NEXT TO THE FOUNTAIN! At 11:00AM we will go into the zoo in small groups, which will meet back for lunch at 1:30PM at Ray’s Bar and Grill. Volunteers to lead groups are always appreciated. Expect lunch costs to be around $10 per person; you are responsible for your own meal. CTSTL will not be purchasing any group tickets for this event. The Zoo closes at 5:00PM; the CTSTL trip will wrap up around 4:30PM to ensure that everyone makes it to their meetup spots for rides with plenty of time. Carpooling is encouraged. See you then!

45 years later AlphaBeta Soup has a second meet-up

When: October 19th, all starting at 2pm and officaly ending at 11pm (but you may come and go as you please)

Where: Rombach Pumpkin Patch & Mimrah’s house! We are all meeting in the front of Rombach Pumpkin Patch in Chesterfield, MO, and at 4-5pm we will head out to Mimrah’s place for the party. (her address is available by request)

Who: Homestucks & friends of homestucks! Feel free to come if you just want the free candy, we are not picky about who shows up as long as you’re not a butt :B

Can I cosplay? Heck yeah you can! It’s a Halloween party! But we do ask if you are going to dress up for the pumpkin patch, you keep it family friendly!!! NO GORE, BLOOD, OR BODY HORROR. There will be small kids there, and we do not want to scare any of them.

I HIGHLY recommend going to the pumpkin patch in a casualstuck or fallstuck outfit and then changing into your more costume-y outfit at Mimrah’s house. We will give you time and space to do such. We will be playing out side if the weather permits, so plan your outfit with that in mind as well, we don’t want anyone to get sick.

(I suggest a costume within a costume for the house party, like Gamzee going as an actual clown or Roxy going as a wizard)

What are we going to do? A lot of classic Halloween stuff! Carving pumpkins, playing in the woods in the dark, board games, and smores! Plus other activities that we will decide on as a group! There will also be tons of snacks and music.

What to bring: We will be ordering pizza for dinner, so bring $5-10 to chip in! Also, if you are planning to carve a pumpkin, you need to bring either your own pumpkin or money to buy one with us at the pumpkin patch! Pumpkin’s start around 4$ for smaller ones. You can also bring your own supplies to carve pumpkins if you like, but we will have stuff for you to use.

***IMPORTANT***

There are both cats and dogs that live in the house. If you are allergic to either or any type of foods, please tell us. We want to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Other important stuff:

You MUST have a pre-planned ride- Have a ride planned from the pumpkin patch to Mimrah’s and to your home BEFORE the meet up starts. We have no interest in dealing with someone who’s unprepared. We will be asking you.

You must have a cell phone- We are planning to play in the woods behind Mimrah’s house for spooky time fun. The woods are pretty small and are surrounded by suburbs, so they aren’t dangerous, but it’s going to be dark and we want to keep everyone safe. (hell to be honest, a walkie-talkie would work)
