pick up that non-fiction book
not all of us can live in fantasy 100% the time like i see some people on here do and it's refreshing to learn something new. its been philosophy, essays, and history for me and i feel much more at home on planet Earth for it knowing that people have been struggling and wishing similarly for millenia.
its not that fiction doesnt have its place, its important and healthy to exercise the imagination, but non-fiction can do so much to boost and supplement that. if not for yourself, for your art or for the people you're around
"representation matters!" but you wont read or engage with non-fiction works about any demographic outside your own
this version of the post doesnt seem to be getting much traction but this is arguably the most important reason why we should be reading nonfiction in addition to fiction
Collins is gone.
Namaygoosisagagun First Nation/Collins has burned to the ground. The entire community is nothing but ashes after being quickly consumed by wildfires. They did not have any support from emergency services, and no one offered aid. The community saved themselves by escaping into boats because no one came.
Mishkeegogamang and Cat Lake have lost power. Families are ending up in shelters with nothing. Armstrong, Lac La Croix, Whitesand, Gull Bay, Lac des Mille Lacs are currently in the fires path and all members are being evacuated.
All this loss, all this devastation, and it was entirely preventable.
After steadily underfunding wildland firefighting and purposefully excluding Indigenous wildland firefighters and Indigenous wildfire organizations from wildfire operations, firefighter training, decisionmaking, and resource exchanges, in 2025, Doug Ford slashed the forest firefighting budget.
It's hard to ignore his decision to cut funding and leave us out of adequate fire training (even though we've lived with forest fires for thousands of years—far longer than settlers have been in Canada—and made sure fires like the ones we're all seeing today were prevented through kinisitotēn) when, despite making up less than 5% of the population, we account for 42% percent of all wildfire evacuations in Canada.
And when we are successfully evacuated, we face discrimination and racism—like Kashechewan—because it's always been easier to blame us than it is to blame the true culprit: denialism, corportate greed, and colonization.
The people of Collins and every other impacted community deserve better.
Right now, the AFN is currently accepting donations to help Collins First Nation. If you're able to, please consider donating.
ONWA (Ontario Native Women's Association) is another great place to donate to. They have outreach vans going to motels and inns and offering food, water, resources, and cultural support to those impacted by the wildfires.
Other places to consider donating to are Mikinakoos Emergency Fund, Red Cross, True North Aid, Indigenous Climate Action. You can also send donations directly to Whitesand First Nation via e-transfer ([email protected]) and they request that you add your full name in the e-transfer comment section to receive a tax receipt.
*Before sending money, verify that the appeal appears on an official First Nation, Tribal Council or registered charity channel.
If you can't offer financial support, please consider donating items of need. Moontime Connections is currently accepting drop-off donations. If you live in the Thunder Bay area, Namaygoosisagagun Health Office is also taking in donations! They can also bemailed to Superior Inn Hotel & Conference Centre at 555 West Arthur Street, Thunder Bay, ON, P7E 5P8.
items needed are: food, diapers, medical masks, men’s and women’s joggers (all sizes), children’s clothing (newborn to size 14), children’s shoes, summer clothing, men’s clothing, toiletries (lotion, Vaseline, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, etc.), strollers, adult depends-all sizes, dog & cat food

when people treat trans women's breasts as if they aren't real breasts and when they treat our vaginas as if they aren't real vaginas they are contributing to the idea that when we are raped it isn't really rape
It Is As If You Were Making Love is a bizarre little game in which you move your computer’s slider to bring it to climax (after all those visits to PronHub it’s probably the least you can do for your computer!)

If you don’t let go of your prejudices and past grudges, your heart won’t blossom. 2013 is coming, let’s make a change. We only have one planet so let’s show each other some kindness.

A continuation of this one~
Shapeshifter who gets horribly grotesque and mutilated when flustered
Its actually so important to me
Yeah okay this is going on main
When I was a teen and having some growing pains in my back, I used to hope it meant something, that I was going to sprout wings and become special
Now I feel special but the pain hasn't and won't gone away
AND THAT COWARD OF A CREATOR OWES ME A PAIR OF COOL WINGS
called an "it" for being trans and queer, called an "it" for being disabled. no matter what we do, we'll always be creepy and scary and gross to people who lack any form of decency or kindness.
and you know what? good. they SHOULD be afraid. part of my intent behind using it/its for myself IS reclamation. people who would call us "it" out of anger or fear deserve to have that (and all) power over us stripped away.
its not just the pronouns for me either, it's the imagery. they want to think of me as something to be feared? ok, i'll fuckin be one! whatever i like halloween bullshit anyway. this just gives me an excuse to indulge in a creepy aesthetic more.
additionally, YOUR comfort does not dictate what pronouns OTHER PEOPLE can use. I've been called he and they in derogatory ways, but you sure as shit don't see me telling others they can't use those pronouns. it/it's isn't any different.
if you like my art, consider subscribing to my kofi. this piece and more art go up way earlier on kofi for monthly supporters than on Tumblr or reddit.
i do currently have a kofi goal thats at 20%, i need groceries urgently and i also am in need of my meds, any help is appreciated!
like. its pretty god damn hard not to draw a direct line between the way people have reacted to jax and callout culture and the unpersoning of "problematic" transfems. if you are upset that someone still reaches out to Jax, that she's still treated with human dignity, that her story was heard and her pain acknowledged, then it seems very very likely to me that once you decide that a real person- especially, say, a transfem- is An Abuser, that person does not deserve peace, friends, or dignity. that you are full throat willing to misgender a trans woman once your chest is filled with righteous indignation. the refusal to sympathise with a problematic tranny- the anger at being asked to! we see that. and we wonder how little it takes for you to turn that on us.
