hello babes i finally updated all my hairs

alpha stuff is basically anything that attempts to look "realistic", like photorealistic skins, realistic hair (as opposed to clay 'maxis-match' hair), and realistic looking clothes. since alpha stuff also goes into the sims game, it should also have all the stuff i showed in that tutorial thingy. having cc that doesnt reach that standard won't NECESSARILY break your computer, but if ur running an older or lower end computer (like i am) its gonna make ur sims experience very very frustrating.

here are the things i look for when i know an artist is notorious for skipping steps on their cc and where to find them in cas

first thing to check is shadow map.

when a shadow map is not masked like that, it will cause texture crunch on the rest of the sim's textures

next is specular maps

even if the object doesn't have a spec MAP, it should always have a spec MASK, otherwise other spec maps will show thru

next is normal map

most objects should have a normal map, exceptions being things like clothes overlays, most jewelry, accessory clothes, etc

last is the LODS (level of detail). lods are very important because too many high poly objects in your game can cause it to lag or even crash.

i only showed lods 0 and 3 but every lod should be different. lod 0 is the highest, aka what you see in CAS or when youre zoomed in all the way in game, and lod 3 is the lowest, aka what you see when u are zoomed AAALLL the way out in game. the poly counts on 2 and 3 SHOULD be low (1k poly or less) because at that distance, u cant see any detail, just vague colors.

click on cas

click the mesh you want to look at and click next to create a new package. ea meshes will have all the correct maps and lods so u can see exactly what to expect from the cc u are downloading.
