All Visual Arts (AVA) is a new hybrid arts enterprise founded by art expert Joe La Placa and CEO of BlueCrest Capital Management Mike Platt in October 2008, whose combined areas of expertise make a strong basis upon which to build a significant collection of contemporary art. La Placa and Platt work closely with their stable of artists, commissioning work that is often ambitious in both scale and in concept. Located in a 5,000 square foot warehouse in the heart of King’s Cross, with high ceilings and expansive walls, the new space acts as an all encompassing showroom, office and storage space for the AVA team, the collection and the artists it represents: Reece Jones, Alastair Mackie, Kate MccGwire, Wolfe von Lenkiewicz and Jonathan Wateridge. www.allvisualarts.org Facebook

In Guarding the Ruins, Thompsett presents us with an atmospheric environment that hovers somewhere between watery depths and heavenly heights. Skewing spatial logic, this work plays with the presumed distance from the viewer through the striking layering of paint, physically and conceptually immersing the viewer.

Lovely little interview with Alistair Mackie from 2011 at Don't Panic. Recommended reading before you come down to AVA to see Mackie's new work tomorrow night!

The private view is from 7-9pm tomorrow, Thursday 20th June. The exhibition will run until 3rd August though, so plenty of time to pop in.

In Complex System 465, cuttlefish bones are cut to conform to their underlying geometry of elongated hexagonals and assembled to form a perfect artefact of twenty-first century conceptual minimalist art.
