The thing with Stargaze. To me. Is that no it didn't go like many people hoped, but the love was there! The hope was there! There was an effort to give the characters something they'd never had before, and it set up the bones of a happier ending. The flesh may not quite right, but you can see what it could've and should've been.

Tristamp was always bold about doing things differently. They wanted to make something new while keeping the spirit of the series even if that sacrificed some of the existing fanbase. I respect that so much, and I think that attitude is what made Stargaze's diversions easier to accept. Not that I think it's perfect by any means. There's a lot I wish had been handled differently.

But a least to me, the willingness for change is what proves there was love. They didn't want to rehash the same thing in 3D. They wanted to do something new while keeping the general tone and themes that make Trigjn what it is.

When Vash wakes up everyone in the area gets excited and rushes over to see him.

Then when Vash starts feeling guilty about how many people died, they try to console him, it's clear they don't blame him.

And then Luida, captain of the Vash Defence Squad, swoops in to tell him that if it wasn't for him and Wolfwood they'd all be dead, and tells him not to say such depressing things because he's family. And then when she tells everyone else to get back to work they all act disappointed about having to leave 😭😭😭

They love him so much 🥹

I'll always love this arc in the manga, it's actually a bit jarring compared to the 98 anime where everyone blames him for what happened and Brad has to defend him before being killed (interesting how Brad is the one who dies in the 98 anime whereas in the manga it's Doc who dies while Brad lives). I don't mean to say the 98 version is bad, it provides good angst in its own way, but I just love how soft and sweet the colony's relationship is with him in the manga, they respect him and enjoy his company, Brad being a bit pissy at first was actually an outlier lol. It makes it that much more bittersweet that Vash can't visit them more often without endangering them. They remember him and get excited to see him even after 10 years have passed.
