BLAKE'S 7 | The Way Back (S1E01)
even MORE posts for your consideration
"That wasn't very Star Trek of you." Devestating. Tragic. You could have been the best humanity could be, and you blew it.
"That wasn't very Doctor Who of you." Mild admonishment. You could have talked yourself out of that situation. This could have ended peacefully.
"That wasn't very Star Wars of you." Confusing. Your solution might have worked, but it wasn't very flashy or impressive. You might have Doctor Who'd it.
"That wasn't very Blake's 7 of you." You're not going to prison after all.

ik this been done before but
In 'Shadow' (season 2, episode 2), Avon and Vila have this exchange regarding Space City.
Vila: Also known as 'The Satellite of Sin!'
Avon: By whom?
Vila: Me.
Avon: I knew it had to be someone of limited imagination.
After this Vila starts infodumping about Space City. It's blurry, but you can see Avon watching him in the background with a slight smile.
It's interesting because he's often openly dismissive of Vila's interests and says in other episodes that he doesn't like him, but his actions don't appear to back this up. His smile here indicates to me that he at the very least finds Vila's enthusiasm endearing, even though he'd never admit it to anyone, including himself.
if you're a classic who fan who hasn't done this already you need to watch blake's 7. there's an episode where the characters go out to a space gay bar and have a catfight and do tricks. also john leeson is there

BLAKE’S 7 | Space Fall (S1E02)

Blake's 7 is like Firefly if the characters hated each other. It's like 70s Doctor Who without the Doctor. It's like Star Trek if the Federation were evil.
The first two seasons ware written entirely by Terry Nation. The best episodes of the show are written by Chris Boucher (who wrote "the Face of Evil.") The worst episodes of the show are written by Ben Steed (aka Captain Misogyny). I think every single person who worked on both Blake's 7 and Doctor Who did a better job on Blake's 7. And that was most of the people who worked on Blake's 7.
It's seventies monochrome and overwhelmingly cynical. I recommend it to people who hate happiness. The writing is by and large good, the effects are and large not, the acting and characters are phenomenal. Blake is written as a Hero and acted as a villain; Avon is written as villain and acted as a Hero. They all wear a LOT of leather. Nothing is black and white except for Servalan's wardrobe. The end of the s2 finale is arguably the greatest moment in all of science fiction. It's Doctor Who's evil bastard baby brother - Mordred to Doctor Who's Galahad, if you will.
It's four seasons of 13 episodes each. It will change your life. (Padme voice: for the better, right? ............right??)
holy shit. the prospect of half a TV show written by Terry Nation but with no Daleks anywhere to be seen is... difficult to grasp
i am sold. thank you extremely much for this write-up

Andor is the 21st century answer to Blake's 7: a scrappy group of rebels and criminals goes up against a well-resourced empire whose leaders dress fabulously. There are craggy-faced character actors, sharp dialogue, and no shortage of quarries.
The Expanse is the 21st century answer to Babylon 5: our heroes face galactic forces that are almost beyond their comprehension, but they still need to deal with equipment maintenance, geopolitical squabbles, and making ends meet. There are grubby space stations with dodgy food, and no one's getting quite enough sleep.
Doctor Who is the 21st century answer to Doctor Who.
