“Bet you didn’t think to check your pockets since we got back, huh?” That palm that housed his chin now nudges JJ’s leg. A flash drive and a letter had been stuffed in his pocket. One that Jiwoon shoved in there as he was scrambling to pack up his stuff after rehearsals. He was certain JJ was too distracted with birthday livestreams and fellow no spin members stealing his attention, to notice Jiwoon planting the items.

It reads as follows. 

“JJ, forgive my brazen display of affection. You know me. I’m the exact sort of guy to subject you to reading a heartfelt letter right in front of me. Oh, come on now! Don’t give me that look, that I’m presuming you’re giving me now. I had to find a moment to get you alone on your special day. After all, you’re sunshine in human form. It’s hard to get others away from the light that seems to radiate off of you. Like many others, I’ve found myself addicted by your charms, drunken off your optimism. No drug could compare to the high you give me, and your smile alone is enough to send shockwaves down my spine. I’ve become so enveloped and wrapped up in you, and to share another year in this crazy life with you is a blessing I’ve never taken for granted. 

Thank you for being no spin’s maknae. For being my sweetest friend. My lover. For welcoming me into a world so exciting and new with open arms. Delving into the processes of his artistry always intrigued him, and for Susie to show even a sliver of interest of what went into his music was exhilarating. “ Correct! The screams are my favorite. Of course, cries and the squeals of death throes make for good overlay or background sounds, but the piercing screams of pain accent a song the best. It’s what gives a single the zest to be a hit, what keeps people listening. He parts his lips, about to begin an overdrawn explanation once again, when Susie taps the button of his voice recorder. Worn out by many presses. Laughter on the speakers plays.
