got my official POTS diagnosis the other day so as per usual, i am incinerating ghost with the projection beam. anyways potsie ghost thoughts:
- developed POTS in his early 20’s after a bout of the flu
- has had a handful of full syncope episodes, but they’re rare and only occur when he pushes himself especially hard (going over two days without eating, getting way too little sleep, etc). toast, as well as the others, all help keep an eye on her to ensure these episodes are prevented as much as possible
- mainly just deals with pre-syncope, though its pre-syncope episodes can be very bad at times
- refuses to stop taking hot showers in the summer, even though doing so knocks them on their ass every time
- uses its wheelchair more often in the summer, to help deal with the worsening of symptoms from the heat
- has frequent chest pain
- has difficulty regulating body temperature, and is more sensitive to the heat and the cold as a result — especially the heat
- has a power wheelchair (decorated with stickers & such)
- deals with chronic nausea
- combined with their ARFID, they struggle to maintain a proper diet that aligns with recommendations — however, they do like snacking on pretzels and will sometimes consume entire packets of salt (he gets a kick out of people’s reactions to doing it when in public as well)
- is often weak, dizzy and/or shaky
- often forgets she needs to slowly transition from laying or sitting to standing up, and has accidentally induced pre-syncope episodes countless times as a result
- will sometimes sit out cases in physically demanding locations, so as to not exacerbate its symptoms
- deals with a lot of brain fog & cognitive symptoms (difficulty concentrating, feeling fuzzy, slow processing speed, etc) and has set up somewhat of a system to help deal with said symptoms when they occur
- gets occasional bad abdominal pain/cramping
- gets POTS-induced migraines on top of their chronic migraine
- has difficulty with doing a lot of exercise — though this has gotten better over the years
- has an exercise routine to help with symptoms — including yoga and a recumbent bicycle
- deals with episodes of horrible fatigue
- hates the summer and hot weather in general
- has chairs in their kitchen for whenever they’re having a flare up and cant handle standing long enough to cook
