In my opinion, Jane Fonda, who worked with Missy on 1962’s Walk on the Wild Side, saying Barbara Stanwyck was “like regular people, or at least how we hope regular people are like,” showed people that the real world is a disappointment to many and a lot of people you encounter aren’t kind to you. Fonda’s sentiment explained that Stanwyck was the best you could meet, “hope” implied that she exceeded all expectations they had of her beforehand. It confirmed what everyone says about Stanwyck being hospitable to everyone, no matter their importance.
