“Cloud is looking too skinny, what is this?!”
in the last five years prior to the beginning of FFVII, Cloud has:
watched his hometown go up in flames at the hands of his childhood hero which includes watching his own mother, his only family, burn to death
been stabbed through the middle by said hero
been taken to a lab and experimented on for four years, where he ended up contracting mako poisoning and became catatonic
been dragged across the country for another year by his bestfriend like luggage before he was forced to stand aside and watch him fight an army of shinra troopers before being overwhelmed and shot down
watched said bestfriend die at his feet with one last smile on his lips
had his mind just shatter with the pressure of every moment of those five years, causing him to assume part of his bestfriend’s identity at the cost of his own
dragged himself across a wasteland towards the city before he collapsed at a train station
barely had a couple days to rest before he was walking into a reactor as part of AVALANCHE
back in 1997, we had to deal with the limitations of the hardware and simply imagine these details as we learned more and more of them.
now it is 2015 and we have the capacity to show every little detail.
cloud IS supposed to look tired. he is supposed to be skinny, after five years of being fed through a tube.
he is supposed to look like he just went through an emotional blender, because he literally has.
