“It’s not ketchup, it’s paint. Ketchup would get too sticky,” they corrected - not getting the reference but rolling with it anyway. “I bet they’re selling hot dogs somewhere around here, we should get some!” Riley was technically supposed to be meeting up with the rest of their roommates soon, but one little detour wouldn’t hurt. “Thank you! I’m a murder victim. The rest of my friends are all the suspects from Clue!”

“God a hot dog sounds good.” Lil’s stomach grumbled in time with the mention of hot dogs and she made an ‘o’ with her mouth. “Yes. We’re getting some. Come on! Up, up off the ground.” The girl held out her hand. She understood Rileys costume after she said it and gave an approving nod. “That’s so cute! My group are all people from the retirement home.” 

“And you’re my favorite sister,” Phil copied her compliment easily. It could be argued that of course Lil was his favorite since she was his only sister - but he didn’t see it that way. Because to him Kimi was just as much of a sister. And kind of Angelica at too - granted an older, bitchier one. So it actually meant something whenever he said it. “Proud that you kept it a secret, but mad that you waited this long! We could have been scaring people this whole time!”

“I guess that means you get to keep a secret from me but only for a month! Thats it. Any longer than that and I’ll shave your eyebrows off in your sleep.” Lil threatened. She tossed over a scarecrow outfit and gave a little shimmy, “Now lets get scaring!” 

Seeing the other’s costume Rosetta couldn’t help but laugh out in delight, quickly offering her arm out to the ‘elderly lady’ and holding onto the end of her dress with the other hand. “Oh, of course! I’m good with hearin’ whichever one comes to mind first. Would ya like me to get ya anythin’ while we’re at it? Can’t have ya gettin’ cold or anythin’, can we?”

“Oh? What war have you lived through granny?” Lottie grinned when she saw the costume. A work of art, whoever this was certainly put thought into everything. “Where ya headin’ and how can I get you there fast?”

“Didn’t you hear me? All of them.” Lil stated in a horrible accent. The girl smiled a little and winked, “The war on ice cream, the war on cell phones, the war on gizmos, oh and the war on bras. It was a very interesting time then.” The girl gave a shimmy but slowed it down and kept herself hunched over. “I want snacks! Lots of snacks!”

Penelope was in the mood for mischief. It wasn’t that she found this little party lame or anything like that; all parties were wins until the cops were called. But it could use some perks. And if those perks aren’t drugs, they had to be something else worth it. Like a good prank. Her eyes scanned the crowd of people around the booths, looking for someone who was either a trick or a treat, and a devilish grin spread when she spotted Lil. She hopped over to her, tapping her hunched shoulder before clearing her throat. “Ahem. Granny get your gun. We are gonna play some pranks on these lame-o’s.”

Lil had always thought of herself as the far too mischievous sort. Although she had good intentions in most of what she did, the girl couldn’t help but act out from time to time. It was in her nature! Hell, her last name basically was ‘devil’ which meant she had to be just as much spice as she was sugar. She gravitated towards the troublemakers. Lil didn’t want to admit it but there was something so enticing about those who were troublemakers. They were the ones who managed to keep her life entertaining. “Oh! Oh geez. Pen. Oh Hello. You nearly gave me a heart attack,” Lil continued to play her part all hunched over and speaking in an absurd accent. “Ah pranks? I could pull a few pranks. Back in my day, I was a prank master. Now, what are you thinking?”

Coraline snorted. “I must admit, I do look like the type of person who would help an old lady right now.” She looked down at her own costume before shuddering. “Tell me more, granny. But you do have to make cookies as you rant and rave or why else would I be a dutiful grandchild?”

“Sorry to tell you, sugar, it’s the rosey cheeks.” Lilian examined Coraline and gave a quick nod as if that was the main culprit for why she looked like a granny helper. “Oh gosh. Oh geez.” Lil did an accent that was more of a New York style compared to the old person sort she should have been using. “I can bake cookies but I can’t promise they’ll be any good.” 

“Well then, let’s go get ‘em,” Phil decided, popping on of the last pieces of popcorn from his bag into his mouth before jumping up from his spot on the picnic table. Beginning to head back towards their dorm room, he turned the shoot a questioning look towards their sister. “How long have you been planning this? If you already have the costumes and everything.”

“Yes!” Lil clapped excitedly, “This is why you’re my favorite brother.” Not to mention that he was her only brother but, still. He was her favorite. He was her best friend in the whole world. She’d never tell him that but it was an unspoken rule. No one meant more to her than her brother. Lil skipped along behind her brother before he stopped. Smiling mischievously at her twin, the girl titled her head to the side. “A little over a month? Proud of me for keeping it a secret? Or mad at me because I’m good at hiding something from you. In my defense, you barely look in the closet and I sort of forgot my plan until yesterday.” 

“I - I can’t,” Riley choked out as they held their stomach, letting the fake knife in their abdomen poke out through their arms. “I… I’ve been m-m-murdered. Please.. Help…” Dropping down to their knees, they coughed twice before falling over, playing dead. For a moment they just lay there in silence before breaking out into giggles. “I totally got you!”

Lil made croaking sound and clutched at her chest. “Himiny jiminy!!” The girl pretended to adjust her glasses and began shaking her head. “Oh dear. You’ve got a lot of ketchup on you. Makes me want a hot dog real bad.” She said, quoting one of the greatest sequels of all time. Lil watched as Riley fell to the floor and had to admit that their commitment was almost as good as hers. “You definitely got me. Riley, you looking fudging amazing!”

“If I ever warrant an autobiography, I’ll be sure to name you in it.” Dimitri agreed, nodding his head. The idea of anyone wanting to be haunted was beyond him. Even if he didn’t totally believe in it, the prospect of an invisible force controlling elements of his reality didn’t sound too pleasant. Still, he couldn’t help but to snort out a bit of a laugh at the idea of bidding on a sex demon. “Wait, so does it lead to you having a lot of sex, or does the demon make you their sex pawn? If it worked, I’m sure there’s a specific grouping of people out there who would gladly pay the $600 for it.” He certainly wasn’t among that grouping, needless to say. Her cringe at the mustard couch brought a grin to his face, laughing loudly as he shook his head. “Relax, I was just testing you. I can’t have anyone along who thinks a mustard accent chair is the way to go. Now that I trust your instincts, I know I can take your word on what we actually find.” The odds of finding a mustard chair in their outing was low, and he was honestly quite relieved by that fact. “Do you have any favorite shops?”

“I want one of those back cover quotes too. I’ll be like ‘great read because I’m in it.’” Lil smiled wildly. She’d always thought the quotes on the back of novels were sort of pompous but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t partake in one if her quote was used. Lil highly doubted that she knew anyone who would write a novel but she was prepared nonetheless. “I’m not really sure seeing as how I didn’t win the sex demon. I would hope its a mutual pairing. The listing did ask for you to be willing to give the sex demon what it wants but surely demons have to sleep too!” Lil giggled at the thought. God there was some weird shit on the internet. She rolled her eyes playfully at the admission that it was a test and wagged her finger at Dimitri. “You’re on thin ice, kid. You almost made me have a meltdown. But, seriously. Mustard is for hot dogs, not couches.” She did like a nice mustard color sweater but, again, that was far different than a whole ass couch. “I really love that antique shop that's across from the fair grounds. I swear to god the creepy ventriloquist dolls are wild. They follow me dude. I have to go say hi just so they won’t get me when they take over the world.”
